Monday, Sept. 18

Corner Gas, CTV: Forty kilometres from nowhere and way beyond normal is Corner Gas, an ensemble comedy series about a bunch of nobodies who get up to a whole lot of nothing in the fictional prairie town of Dog River, Saskatchewan. Starring Saskatchewan native and Gemini nominee Brent Butt, Corner Gas is set to kick-off its third season on television. Airs Mondays at 8:30 p.m. on CTV.

Ad Persuasion, TVtropolis: Not to jumble Marshall McLuhan, but welcome to the series where the message is the medium. Ad Persuasion spotlights the ad as art form, focusing on the world’s most creative, award-winning commercials, with added perspective from international industry experts. In an age where we tune in to watch the commercials first and the Super Bowl second, Ad Persuasion is a perfect fit; a salute to the wunderkinds who captivate us every commercial break. Airs Mondays at 7 p.m. on TVtropolis.

Inside the Box, TVtropolis: Couch potatoes prepare to whip and mash their competition. Host Sam Kalileh presides over this fast-paced showdown, pitting three contestants against each other in an unpredictable and irreverent battle of TV trivia. Up for grabs is a cool $10,000, which isn’t too shabby for knowing the syndication order of Friends. Airs Mondays at 7:30 p.m. on TVtropolis.

Be Real, TVtropolis: Move over, ‘Who shot J.R.?’ Welcome to, ‘Who will J.R. shoot?” Host J.R. Digs plays director as he commandeers the lives of everyday people to create a reality show out of their daily lives. Where the day will take them – and what adventures will befall them – is anybody’s guess, but be certain, Be Real… proves that ordinary life, when it’s on camera J.R. Digs style, is never, ever dull. Thursday, Sept. 21

Whatever Happened To …, TVtropolis: They may depart our TV screens and bid adieu to the marquee, but they never really leave our collective consciousness. Saturday, Sept. 23

Global Currents, Global: Global Television, along with Global National’s Kevin Newman, is pleased to present “Global Currents,” a unique documentary series committed to revealing extraordinary perspectives and issues affecting all Canadians. Each weekly one-hour, independently-produced documentary represents the talents of Canada’s best socio-political, environmental, humanist and scientific documentary filmmakers. Global Television will air twelve editions of “Global Currents” this fall, and another six in the spring of 2007. Airs Saturdays at 7 p.m. on Global.
