Call For Entries for the 2008 Shaw Rocket Prize

The Shaw Rocket Prize announces that submissions are now being accepted for its signature $50,000 juried, winner-take-all prize for best independently produced Canadian children’s program.

This year, the Shaw Rocket Prize will celebrate the best children’s program by accepting submissions for programs with a target audience of children 12 and under. Any genre or format is eligible and all program lengths are welcome. Submission details can be found at The deadline for entries is November 16, 2007.

An international jury consisting of key individuals within the children’s broadcasting and production industry will select the Shaw Rocket Prize finalists. The jury will be announced in January 2008. Finalists will be announced in February 2008. A jury of approximately 400 Canadian students will choose the $50,000 winner as part of a school-based media literacy program.

Previous Shaw Rocket Prize winners include: Degrassi: The Next Generation, Being Ian, and last year’s winner Make Some Noise.
