W Network and Worldwide Bag Media Announce New Series, Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag

W Network, Canada’s No. 1 specialty channel for women, has partnered with Worldwide Bag Media to produce a new original series, Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag, featuring Anna Wallner and Kristina Matisic, the well-known hosts from the long-running and successful Canadian series The Shopping Bags. Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag is now in production in Vancouver, B.C., and will premiere in September on W Network.

“When The Shopping Bags launched in 2001, W Network knew we had a winning combination in hosts Anna and Kristina. Audiences responded immediately to their good natured camaraderie and the practical but fun approach they took to any topic they tackled. With Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag, we’re thrilled to take Anna and Kristina’s talents and friendship in a new direction on a subject that is dear to us all…food,” said Joanna Webb, Vice President, Programming, W Network.

In Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag, the test-driving twosome narrow their focus to the kitchen and put cookbooks to the test – from the grocery store to the dinner plate. In each episode, Anna and Kristina try out and review recipes, ingredients, appliances and food prep techniques to see if the average cook can re-create the beautifully photographed meals. From microwaves to macaroni, from mixing bowls to mixed greens, Anna and Kristina enlist the help of everyday people from construction workers to students to football fans, to find the best products and ingredients. At the end of the show, a guest chef or food expert will give a final evaluation of the meal and decide if the cookbook delivers the goods.

“We’re excited to be turning our attention to the kitchen, a room filled with so many product testing opportunities. But the potential for disaster is big since we’re no experts when it comes to cooking!” said Anna Wallner, President, Worldwide Bag Media.

  1. HI Anna:

sometime ago I heard an interview with you and I wanted to let you know I love your idea. My husband and I own Hazelmere Organic Farm in South Surrey and I thought I would invite you to the farm and test some of the recipes in John Bishop’s latest cookbook FRESH in our kitchenwhen John does some of his cooking classes. Let me know if you are interested
