Upcoming series: Chop Shop, Slice, Feb. 4

THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT YOUR LIFE – NOW FIND OUT ABOUT THEIRS!

  • HAIR STYLISTS’ LIVES EXPOSED IN THE NEW SLICEâ„¢ SERIES “CHOP SHOP”
  • “CHOP SHOP” premieres Wed., Feb. 4 at 8 p.m.ET/9 p.m. PT on SLICEâ„¢

Boyfriend problems? A nagging boss? Not enough work-life balance? Your hairstylists may know all about you, but how much do you really know about them? In “Chop Shop”, the new 13 x 30′ SLICEâ„¢ docusoap, viewers can finally go behind-the-salon-scenes to discover the dirt that really happens between shampoos. In each episode of this sleek, new series, salon owner Daniel Hudon and his motley crew of punk-rock stylists live their lives on camera – exposing their relationships, rivalries, and rumbles that happen in the course of any given day at the Chop Shop, Vancouver’s busiest rock-and-roll hair salon. “Chop Shop” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT beginning Feb. 4 on SLICEâ„¢. The series is produced by Paperny Films and Urban Media Inc.

“SLICE™ viewers will love getting to know the Choppers,” says Cal Shumiatcher, executive producer. “As customers, we only see a hair salon from one side. This series gives the viewer an entertaining insider view of the antics that happen behind-the-scenes.”

“I had very limited experience with the punk rock scene and, to be honest, I was a little intimidated at first,” says Ziad Touma, director and producer. “As I spent some time with the Choppers though, I learned that they are just as fun, friendly and genuine as anybody else.”

“Chop Shop” is not your average, chi-chi hair salon. At this cutting-edge shop, owner Daniel Hudon and his eclectic crew don spiky mohawks, full-body tattoos and/or purple highlights while dishing out wicked style to their clientele. But underneath their hard-edge look lies a tight-knit – if not sometimes dysfunctional – family, each member with a heart of gold. Like any family though, personalities clash. Daniel struggles to find a balance between being the tough-guy boss and keeping his ‘family’ happy while they work and party hard under the same roof. Dating Choppers Amber and Procter try to keep it professional, but sometimes their relationship interferes with work while Mishelle, one of the original Choppers, often clashes with Daniel’s hot-headed ways. With thirteen Choppers featured, these are a few examples of some personalities that appear on-screen.

EPISODE 1: Help Wanted

Wed., Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

The Chop Shop is kicking it so hard, that they have to turn away clients. Salon owner Daniel tells his Choppers he is hiring a new stylist. However, when a mouthy Montrealer and a troublesome ex-chopper both show up for the job, Daniel must choose between hiring a newbie or taking back the devil he knows.

EPISODE 2: Matchmakers

Wed., Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

A recent break-up has caused salon owner Daniel to start nitpicking – and it is driving his stylists crazy. Choppers Tobi, Jeff and Liz decide finding him a girlfriend isthe best way to get him off their case. Meanwhile, dating Choppers Procter and Amber need Daniel to cover for them so they can get a day off together.
