TV, eh?

I loved this show and waited for it every week. I wish the CBC had given it at least one more season and better promotion. It seems to me that it was under publicized and TV critic John Doyle didn’t like it. I’m a Canadian author and would have considered writing for the series next fall. The CBC’s emphasis on reality shows instead of Canadian dramas is short-sighted. We need more Canadian stories on television.

I had been really excited for this show to air because it had all the ingredients to be a hit but once it came on I was horribly disappointed. It was mis-cast and mis-written (and by saying this I do not not mean the actors were bad cause they weren’t and the writers could write well, they just went in the wrong directions). It tried too hard to be fun and sexy and missed the boat completely. It had vast potential but alas I’m not sad it’s gone.

C’mon, how could you cancel that show? It rivals any of the good shows from south of the border, is actually in Calgary and surrounding area and is not pretending to be somewhere else. We looked forward to it every week. Great story line and it always left us wanting more every week.
You were onto something good here. Just like that, you dropped everyone, the great actors, the writers, all involved personnel and don’t forget…the viewers. Don’t you get it??? Bring back Wild Roses!!

I thought this was one of the best shows on TV. I and my family looked forward to seeing it every week. It truly was about Canadians and places in Canada.
You are fools to have stopped this series.

I can’t believe its cancelled how will be know what happened at the end. Every time a new show comes on its cancelled. The same thing with Falcon Beach that is a canadian show from winnipeg was cancelled. So pissed off…..

Why is it that CBC cancels every decent show they have about Canada, Nothing Too Good For A Cowboy canceled, and now Wild Roses. The only other good thing they have is hockey but I’m sure that will be over soon enough. WR was the only good series on TV, everything else is crap all this reality or stories about little rich kids in the US. Wake up CBC you had something good.

I can’t believe that a great show done in Alberta has been canceled. I can’t stand to watch these reality shows that are taking over the air waves. I watched Wild Roses every week and could not wait to see it again the next week. I hope that CBC or someone else can bring the best show back.

Absolutely dissapointing and absolutely fed up with CBC. No longer one of my viewing channels! What the hell is going on over there with CBC, I thought we all agreed we lacked great Canadian content! Congrats CBC has confirmed we have no content.

Can’t believe the best show on TV got cancelled. Looked forward to this show every week, even got other people hooked on it. Was so looking forward to the new season to start. I am very disappointed in CBC’s decision to cancel it, they finally had a good show on their station that was worth watching.

I never saw this show on T.V., but when I heard people talk about how good it was I bought the whole season on i-tunes and LOVED it!!!! I watched the whole season in a week! One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and canadian to top it off. NOT happy that it is cancelled :(

This was one of my favourite shows!!! I was just checking to see when season two started … only to find out it was cancelled. I can’t believe it was dropped :-(

Better marketing might have improved the ratings; it was a great show.

I’m upset that WR has been cancelled i’m from Quebec and I didn’t miss one episode I think CBC is making a big big mistake. for once we had a great show and they cancelled it that’s CBC for you. Not everybody likes reality shows I know I don’t and I could’nt wait to watch WR it was my favourite show. I would love to meet the person who make the decision what to cancel or what to keep I think that person is on the other side of the track. Sorry to say but CBC your done with me I’ll watch any kind of channel but yours.

Why air the reruns if the show is cancelled? CBC YOU SUCK! This show was the best thing to come along since Gilmore Girls and you had to leave us hanging.

CBC…. you really suck. If it wasn’t bad enough that Wild Roses was cancelled, you truly insulted your viewers by bringing it back as a summer rerun!!! It’s bad enough we will never know the outcome of the last episode but to have it re-air just slaps us in the face a second time because we know there will be no new shows! CBC is cruel!!!!

It is ridiculous to cancelled such a great show. When will canadians support their own shows instead of swallowing anything that comes from south of the border. I thought this show will run for several seasons. If this is about ratings, my advice is do what Rene Angeli did with Celine Dion, sell it to Europe and then the succes will be recognized by all north americans. Good luck Wild Roses.

Holy Crap! I missed this show the first time around and have been catching them on the rerun and I got to say holy crap this is a good show!! They canceled it! I’m shocked. It wasn’t what I expected. I’m three shows in and I’m hooked. WOW CBC canceled this… shocked….

I cant wait for season 2 of Wild Roses. You just can’t leave us hanging like that after they finally struck oil. Season 2 ought to be great.

My husband and i are so disapointed that they wont be giving this amazing show a chance…….that was really the only show we have really gotten into in a very long time!! Please bring it back!!!! Its one of the best shows on t.v, and it’s CANADIAN!!!!

I’d never heard of Wild Roses (way to go, CBC promotions department) until a few weeks ago, tuned in, got hooked. Now I read it’s been cancelled? Unbelievable! No wonder the CBC is such a mess – lure viewers in with a good show containing a Canadian locale, writing, actors, etc., and then scrap it for who knows what reason.

The CBC should downsize upper management and direct the money saved toward nurturing and promoting good homegrown shows such as Wild Roses.

I am nothing short of amazed at CBC for canceling Wild Roses. I absolutely adored the series and was completely looking forward to it coming back for a 2nd season. Disappointed.

Like CBC has anything BETTER to replace Wild roses with.

With the excpetion of HNIC (and they couldn’t even keep the rights to the theme song! strike 1 against CBC), Wild Roses was the only other CBC program that was actually watchable, it’s so full of reality junk that there was no point.
This is strike 2 against CBC…doubtful I’ll even give them a 3rd chance…sad.

Jeez, I wish I’d found this site earlier as a venue for some of my rantings and ravings. It all started with a simple Google search to try and find out when the new episodes of “Wild Roses” would air…

I now look at the new lineup of “quality programming” that CBC will be treating (read: subjecting) us to this fall. Many of which were funded with the money that wasn’t used to renew the rights to that charming little tune we had grown accustomed to hearing on Saturday nights. How many of these shows do you think will make it past the first two or three episodes?

Oh boy, a skating reality show. Reality shows on CBC don’t have a great track record. Remember the poor-man’s Canadian Idol, “The One” with Stromboulomboulopoulipoulis? Or “How Do You Kill a Network Like Maria?” What’s next, a spinoff on “Triple Sensation,” a quest for Canada’s best Skater/Calligrapher/Spot Welder?

Ah, Ron James. I like the guy really well, but does he really have enough material to cover a series for a full season? Let alone several? Only time will tell.

A spelling bee? Well, CBC recently treated us to “Wheel of Fortune,” so why not more spelling/word games? Can you spell A-G-G-O-N-I-Z-I-N-G? Wait…how many G’s…? Crap. BUZZZZZZZZZ!

18 to Life…The poor man’s take on “Juno” settiling down into marriage. What 30 year olds will they get to play the parts of the teenagers? Hey, Lauzon, Park, Holmes and Brown-Haired-Chickie are probably STILL out of work since “Air Farce” went off the air. By the way, thank God they killed that when they did. Better late than never. Is “22″ getting to that stage, or am I just having a bad day?

“The Republic of Doyle” sounds borderline interesting…if it’s executed properly. I’ve been to Atlantic Canada. Beautiful countryside. If a successful show can come out of Saskatchewan (that’s “Corner Gas” by the way), there’s certainly hope for Newfoundland. I’ll check it out at least.

Ah, the returning gems…Some of them I’ll watch, like Mercer, 22, Den, Strombo, etc. The rest I’ll take or leave. Ah, Little Mosque. I’ve seen the subjects of autopsies display a wider acting range. We get is, they’re “MOS-lems” in rural Saskatchewan, they don’t fit in! Yeesh! Do they have to explain EVERY joke that isn’t a pun?

(Shhh! Don’t tell CBC, but I’ve discovered their formula. Take a random cultural group, and paradigm-shift them into an environment different from their own, and make the conflicts that arise as hilarious (read: ‘meh’) as possible. I’m working on an idea to pitch to CBC execs right now. It’s about a family of Norweigans who immigrate to Canada, but the only place the parents can find work is, wait for it…a car dealership! It’ll be zany, ZANY I tell you! I’ll call it “Oslomobile,” instead of “Oldsmobile.” Get it? Because “Oslo” replaces “Olds” and Oslo is in Norway and Oldsmobile is…a…type…of…car…)

And as far as the “Bring Back ‘Wild Roses’” bandwagon goes…oh heck, I’ll jump on it too! I liked the show. As people have said, the plot twists, the acting in general, it all added up to a decent show. The season finale was one heckuva cluffhanger. Sure, it had it’s flaws (Jude was a loser and Charlotte was naive (read: a tool)), but still, I enjoyed it. At least Adam MacDonald will still be getting a paycheck.

Now, the CBC is desperate to fill their time slots, so they’re not only re-running “Wild Roses,” but they’re pulling long-since fizzled shows like “Da Vinci’s City Hall” and (lack of) “Intelligence” from the archives. Next, it’ll be “North of 60″ and “The Beachcombers” and soon, “The Forest Rangers.” In 2011, expect reruns of “The National.”

Long story short…

…oh heck, I’ll just watch CTV.

Well this sucks… I too was looking to see when Wild Roses was coming back as I wanted to see what happened after the explosion… now I will never know. CBC never gets it right. they have crap on most of the time and that is why I never watch it. If they want to keep viewers why not keep the shows we like? Why force stupid shows down our throats which are not very good on a good day. Spelling Bee shows… what the hell is that. I guess CBC has lost another viewer. See ya.

CBC come on you can’t leave us hanging we have to know what happens,plus this was one of the best shows that was on the whole season,come on bring it back please.

WR reminded me of a modern day Dallas. I loved Dallas and I loved Wild Roses, it was a nice break from reality t.v. I am sooo disappointed

Up until today I have been waiting for the return of Wild Roses, I can’t believe they cancelled it. CBC sucks. Must be making room for more of those stupid reality shows(enough already). I guess I’ll make my own ending.

Wild Roses was our canadian version of Dallas but with a better story.

I can’t believe it!!! Last year was the first time since I was a child that I actually watched CBC. I was pleasantly surprised and told all my co-workers about the great shows. It makes me wonder who the hell is running the network. Idiot comes to mind. Finally a show to rival those on American networks and what do they do, pull the plug!! Why couldn’t they give it a 2nd season, change the night and time slot, something, anything to give the show another try. We are always told that we as viewers have a voice. What BS that is, they have no intention of listening to us. HUGE MISTAKE. CBC. Fix it!!

I truly loved and enjoyed Wild Roses! I just found out it is not coming back. Canadian television sucks really bad and finally a show that could compete with American programs and you take it off. What a huge disappointment!

Watched the finale last night so it would be fresh in my mind for the new season. Alas it’s cancelled. Guess, everyone died in the explosion. CBC yet again makes another boo boo. Help. we need a network more sophisticated that CBC to realize the potential that this Canadian soap could have!

This is a joke, CBC shoots itself in the foot AGAIN! They did the same thing with Due South and look how successful it became and still is. I LOVE the fact that it’s actually shot in and around Calgary and has a real following.But you know what this is the ONLY country where we are continually shooting ourselves.

Can’t believe it’s cancelled!! It’s the only program we changed plans to watch last winter. Have been waiting all summer to see what happened after the last episode. It was so nice to see something we could relate to on TV being northern Alberta residents. Hopefully therw will be a change of plans!!!

WR was, make that is, a great show. Between the gore and crime on mainstream TV, it was a refreshing, yet exciting piece of Canadian work that stood well against any US or British drama. CBC has repeated its history of poor judgement and disappointed viewers that were finally tuning in. The show appealed to all ages and was well done. CBC get your act together and bring back Wild Roses.

I can not believe that WR is cancelled. How can you do that CBC after the season finale. You are disapointing many Canadians. Just another reason not to watch Canadian tv you always cancel the good show and leave the crappy one on that nobody watches but get showen on every fricken commercial break possible. WR was a wicked show that my whole family including extened family watched EVERY week. I am highly disapointed in CBC.

I can’t believe it! I just found out that Wild Roses is cancelled?! Wow what a shock! I absolutely loved this show and never missed an episode! Why on earth would you go and cancel such a great Canadian show. We don’t see many great Canadian shows on TV now a days and the one and only one that is the best you guys go and cancel it? A very disappointing day when you find out the best canadian series ever will not be returning…… This was a great family show and was as in alot of household one hour the whole family could spend together. what is wrong woth the people at the cbc???????? They obviously don’t know a good thing when they see it or maybe that is the problem they themselves have not watched the series … I think that they should reconsider as the consequences are going the be hard on the CBC. I don’t really watch tv very often as there is so much junk on the tube but I must say that my family and I would sit back and relax together to watch this very interesting show. Each week we’d wait with anticipation for the next episode. I, myself couldn’t wait for the Fall season to see what would happen to these two families after the explosion. Another great show gone up in smoke. I was just wondering when the series was starting up again and to my surprise the network cancels yet another of my favorites.

Here I am waiting for the new season to start and I find out it has been cancelled. I guess you can’t expect anything better from our beloved CBC. The CBC ‘Can Be Crap’. Bring it back at least for one more season. It was the best!

Looking for Wild Roses in the CBC fall line up. I was surprised to see that it was not coming back on. The actors were great, the show was great. Why bother turning the tv back on if all that canadain broadcasting is going to do is follow in the americans footsteps of reality tv. crap tv.

I’m from the United States (Michigan) and watched Wild Roses every week (I get CBC and other Canadien stations with my HD rabbit ears). I have to say, the show was better than the crap that is on American television (FOX, CBS, etc). I enjoyed watching Wild Roses and will miss it. It was a breath of fresh air and wished i moved out to the Canadien West. CBC, please think about other viewers south of the border!

I really loved the show and always looked forward to it. I am very disappointed it is not on anymore. There isn’t much on TV that really interests me. I like Little Mosque and I’m surprised it hasn’t been cancelled because the good ones are cancelled. I guess I will continue reading more and renting movies.

I was hoping to find out when the second season was to start…Only to be sadly disappointed to hear that it is cancelled. Such a great show, our whole family would watch it every week together. I really hope they come to there senses and try another season. There are worse shows on out there that should of been cancelled! Is it to much to ask to have a family enjoy something together anymore!!!

Someone has to be let go,( executive type) who cancelled this and allowed ” Little Mosque on the priarie” to do one episode ( one to many) and allow this kind of crap to continue instead of Wildrose is beyond belief.I only watched 2 programs on CBC and now I am down to one .

As a group all we can do is hope. I too wish that this program would be continued. It wasn’t until now that I found out it had been cancelled, started to search when Wild Roses was to be aired and BOOM found this info. So sad.

I finished teaching Pilates at 8:30pm and drove 1 hour every tuesday nite last winter so I could watch my favorite show – never missed an episode. Lived in calgary 12 years of my 19 away from the Eastern Townships of QC where I grew up on a horse farm and my mother still has to this day where my daughter & I still ride our own!
Please bring it back – first Cnaadian show I really got hooked on and had looked forward to all Summer after that last explosive cliff hanger!!!

I’m so sad this program has been cancelled. It was fun and silly and irreverent. Even my husband was starting to enjoy it. It was such a nice change from “reality” and forensics.

Someone just asked me, what was my fav T.V. program, so I decided to look it up on the internet, cause I also wanted to know when the 2nd season would be airing. Leave it to CBC to drop the ball big time on this awesome show, as it was destined to become as popular as Dallas was. Perhaps we will get lucky & an American Network will pick it up. Whats next to go CBC…N.H.L. broadcast?

I am very disappointed in the CBC. They won me back to their viewership last year with the launch of “Wild Roses” and “Being Erica,” after a long absence due to poor programming. My family and I looked forward to it every week, thinking that Canadian television dramas were finally getting it together and giving us something worth watching!

I loved Wild Roses and I’m REALLY disappointed it’s not on this season. WHY was it cancelled????

Like many others i too would like to know why this show has been cancelled. We enjoyed it and especially because it was Canadian.

I can not believe that Canada finally got it right and put out a great show and dropped it. I guess it is true that we Canadians dont believe in doing it right.
Each week I looked forward to this show and was waiting impatiently for the new season. Guess I will look elsewhere like the American tv for my pleasure. Here they keep telling us to support local tv but why dont they supply local people.

The show did have some really good points – good overall story line, good acting, nice production values. It did suffer from realism in the details that I found annoying. In the first episode, for instance, one of the guys bets his brother Porsche in a poker game and loses it. Of course his brother gets annoyed. In real life that wouldn’t have been a problem – it wasn’t his to lose (it’s kind of hard to register a car in Alberta if you don’t have a sales contract from the previous owner).

Many stereotypes like that were shown in each episode about Calgary which, although is probably needed for dramatic license, did lower its appeal for me, and other people I talked to.

Very disappointed in CBC I kept waiting for the second season to come on and nothing. So I googled it to find out that it was cancelled. Why does Canadian TV never follow through. There are so many shows that could of been cut and they pick this one.

I loved the show. A Canadian version of Dallas. I think it’s a shame that this show got cancelled. Of all the new shows out there I think this one should have been kept, it could have been a hit. If it had been more advertised people would have been hooked. Too bad, I think this show would have lasted as long as our other famous Canadian show The Beachcomers. Hope it will make another debu.

I can’t believe I am contributing to this forum, I just don’t do this kind of thing, but…
I never get caught up in tv series because I don’t watch too much tv (on purpose) but I was instantly attracted to this show from the 1st time I watched it. Then when I found out it was Canadian, I was very impressed. I actually tuned in to the following shows more often than not, and found that each show had an intriguing plot to it, and the characters were great, especially Gary Hudson (I just googled it to find out his name), man was he good in the role of the evil oil tycoon, I loved him, er hated him, you know the feeling you get when someone acted so well, you get into their character. And his daughter was so evil, and well I could go on but I’d rather not just now.

Anyhow, CBC, IF YOU READ THIS, promote it much better, and bring it back for a trial and when the word spreads, you will be rewarded by more viewers than you thought possible. Because it is A DAMN GOOD SHOW!

cbc not for me anymore, use to watch wild roses because it was the best show ever but now cbc suck ,we had a show that was the canadian pride and joy because it was canadian very interresting and excellent plots,good acters (excellent acters),the life of the canadian oil sands and no cbc had to cancelled how stupid can you be..no cbc for me………….bring back wild roses please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes another fine CANADIAN show bites the dust… we’ll just have to settle for ‘Heartland’ , and reruns that the originals we never watched. Stay tuned Canada… more to come, hopefully.

My husband and I watched every episode last year. Keep look in the Van. Province to see when it was coming back. Got a laptop and checked it out. So sad to see it cancelled. It was the best!!!! Can;t really get into Heartland.

what happened to the show my husband and I watched it every week, the acting was great and we are so sad to see it was cancelled and wonder WHY????

Thought I would check tonite to see when Wild Roses was going to start and was so disappointed to see that CBC cancelled this show. Can’t believe it, why, did CBC not have enough money to carry on….watched the new show Republic of Doyle tonite and it does not have a stand in when it came to Wild Roses. It was so well done, I forgot it was Canadian. It reminded me of Dallas. We couldn’t wait for it to come back on. Come on CBC, do you not know when you have a good show. Give it to another station at least and give it another chance, if you cannot do anything more with it. Maybe american.

Wild Roses was a great show. I was hoping it would return in the new year. What are you thinking CBC????? 2009 was the first year my 2 favourite shows were Canadian … Flashpoint and Wild Roses. PLEASE RECONSIDER.

Wild Roses was awesome. Why is it always like that when there is a good show on tv they have to cancel it? I’m watching tv right now I have about 300 channels and not a single thing interesting to watch. So there is a lot worst than Wild Roses out there. BRING IT BACK!!!!!

In Belgium they aired the last episode, and when I read this now, I’m soo disappointed …
The just found the oil… And did they die from the explosion?
I really NEED a second season!

So much for watching Canadian television. I watched it with my wife everyweek faithfully because it actually was a Canadian show. I think cbc has their head shoved so far up there they can’t think straight.

I am with the others that will miss Wild Roses….hopefully CBC will realize that a lot of Canadians really enjoyed the show and were faithful watchers.

bring it back and get rid of some of the other crap that no one enjoys as much as wild rose
