Head North of the Border For a Series of Fascinating Adventures in MURDOCH MYSTERIES

The new American Public Television-distributed series MURDOCH MYSTERIES, airing on public television stations nationwide beginning June 30, 2009, follows the exploits of young detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) as he navigates the streets of 1890’s Toronto. Using unconventional, cutting-edge forensic science techniques, Murdoch battles ridicule from his fellow officers and skepticism from his superiors to solve a series of challenging killings that plague the city.

The beautiful, insightful coroner Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) and his eager protégé George Crabtree (Johnny Harris) assist Murdoch in his investigations and prove to be valuable allies in Murdoch’s struggle against the set-in-their-ways police. He also matches wits with his gruff boss, Chief Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), who prefers the more traditional ways of policing.

The cases in MURDOCH MYSTERIES include the mysterious murder of Miss Toronto Electric & Light, electrocuted in a demonstration gone wrong; an investigation into a paranormal killing that requires the assistance of famous author Arthur Conan Doyle; a skeletal corpse falling from the ceiling of the Grand Theatre; the death of a star rower after a long night of drinking; the slaying of a prestigious doctor found with arrows jutting out of his back; and the slaughter of an Irish girl with ties to a plot to assassinate the British Prince Alfred.

Other mysteries include the murder of a secretive young man on his wedding day, the grisly killing of a ventriloquist’s father with a lethal ingestion of varnish, and the hanging of an odd Martian-obsessed loner with a shop full of telescopes, charts and journals. Filled with intriguing cases and captivating characters, MURDOCH MYSTERIES is gripping police drama.

MURDOCH MYSTERIES was acquired from ITV Global Entertainment for syndication to public television stations nationwide.
