Set in Toronto, the action-filled first season of THE LISTENER premiered on CTV in June 2009. Averaging nearly one million viewers in Canada, the series instantly became a hit, debuting at #1 in its 10 p.m. timeslot on CTV with an audience of 1.1 million viewers.

THE LISTENER premiered in 120 countries and 33 languages across FOX International Channels networks starting in March 2009. The series debuted to solid ratings in countries including UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Poland, Brazil and Turkey. THE LISTENER Season 2 will rollout on FOX International Channels’ local networks starting in March 2011.

This season, viewers can get the inside scoop on all the THE LISTENER action and experience the series on a whole new virtual level on listener.CTV.ca, Facebook, and Twitter. Coming soon to listener.ctv.ca is The Listener’s Vision Buster Game, where users take on the role of Toby, and are required to concentrate on a series of images as they flash on-screen. Users then need to piece together the meaning of these images to determine the phrase the images are trying to communicate and enter their answers on screen. With each level, the phrases become more complicated and the images flash with greater speed. Players can share their scores with online communities, and challenge others to beat high scores.

In the Season 2 premiere of THE LISTENER “Lady in the Lake” (Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. ET), Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) – still haunted by guilt over the murder of his friend Detective Charlie Marks and the disappearance of his mother – has resolved to stop fighting against his mysterious gift and use his telepathic abilities to help others. When he revives a woman (Rekha Sharma, V) who nearly drowned, her amnesia gives him the perfect opportunity. But unbeknownst to him, she’s tangled in a case of corporate espionage and murder, and she might not be the victim he presumes. As he sets out to help her remember her past, she’s also being investigated by Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) of the IIB, who has taken a special interest in Toby’s connection to the woman and uncovered his more than coincidental history with a number of major criminal cases in the past.

Toby Logan is THE LISTENER – a paramedic with a gift. In addition to being a highly skilled first responder, he’s been blessed, and cursed, with telepathic abilities that allow him to read people’s thoughts. In Season 2, when Toby stumbles into a case investigated by the Integrated Investigative Bureau (IIB) of the RCMP, he finds he must reveal his gift to Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith). Despite her initial scepticism, Michelle comes to realize Toby’s extraordinary potential. While maintaining his standing as a paramedic, Toby is enlisted to consult with IIB. There he and his partner “Oz” (Ennis Esmer, WIPEOUT CANADA, Young People F**king) join Michelle as well as her brilliant junior partner, computer maven Corp. Dev Clark (Rainbow Sun Francks, STARGATE ATLANTIS) and Alvin Klein (Peter Stebbings, MADISON) the Bureau’s in-house legal expert to help solve IIB’s most difficult cases.

Joining the staff at St. Luke Hospital to work alongside Dr. Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic, STARGATE ATLANTIS) and EMS supervisor George Ryder (Arnold Pinnock, THIS IS WONDERLAND) is Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn), a triage nurse who runs the floor with military precision and dry humour.

  1. This is GREAT!!! I’d just assumed that “The Listener” had been cancelled, when they kept playing the same 13 episodes over and over again. I’m thrilled that finally new episodes are about to be broadcast! Great characters and great original storylines! I can’t wait!

  2. While I’m looking forward to more Toby… I really hate that they killed off Charlie as she was my second favorite character and of course there is no mention of Ray which was my third favorite character!
