From a media release:
THE DRUNK AND ON DRUGS HAPPY FUNTIME HOUR AND KENNY HOTZ’S TRIUMPH OF THE WILL REV UP THE ACTION SUMMER SCHEDULE
- Two all-new Canadian original series premiere July 22
This summer, familiar faces crash the Action schedule with two explosive comedy events. The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour and Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will make their broadcast premieres, marking the first time that not one, but two original series launch on Action. The high-octane series feature all three of the infamous Trailer Park Boys and half of the dynamic duo of Kenny vs. Spenny, Kenny Hotz. The non-stop action begins July 22, 2011.
The former Trailer Park Boys, Mike Smith, Robb Wells and JP Tremblay return to television to give Action viewers a new innovative comedy series, The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour. Set in the fictional town of Port Cockerton, this high-energy miniseries finds the boys in the midst of shooting their new sketch-variety TV show called “The Happy Funtime Hour.” The show gets eerie when an actor hired to play an eccentric scientist (the late Maury Chaykin) assumes the personality of his character after synthesizing a powerful and addictive hallucinogen derived from local berries. Chaos ensues when the cast of the variety show ingests the drugs and begin to believe they really are the characters they portray on the show and run amok throughout the small town. Guest stars include Jay Baruchel, Amy Sedaris, Pat Roach and John Dunsworth. A three-part television event, The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour is comprised of six half-hour episodes airing back-to-back beginning Friday, July 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
In his all-new high-stakes series, Kenny Hotz is finished with trivial tit-for-tat competitions and is ready to conquer the world. Each episode of Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will finds Kenny taking on nearly impossible missions with a Dateline approach, like proving that pigs are too smart to be eaten and trying to find love for his widowed mother. Although he is driven by a personal and higher moral agenda, viewers can expect his tactics to be unconventional and unpredictable. Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will is a six episode half-hour episodic series. Executive Produced by John Morayniss and Noreen Halpern of Entertainment One, Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will premieres Friday, July 22 at 10 p.m. ET.
The web components for both series are sure to pack a punch. Action viewers can flock to DrunkandonDrugs.com where the hallucinogenic berries have been scattered all over the website. Fans can log in to the Interactive Quest to help Dr. Funtime collect the berries to keep the characters in their altered state and, in return, they’ll be rewarded with over an hour of outrageous exclusive online video content emerging each week. The site also features full streaming episodes of the show, character and actor bios and over eighty minutes of original content. The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour website was developed by Shaw Media with the participation of the Canada Media Fund and the Bell New Media Fund.
Viewers of Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will can continue the wild ride on Kenny’s testosterone-filled challenges by visiting action-tv.ca, where they can view the episode guide accompanied by exclusive episodic webisodes taking them behind-the-scenes of the show.
