  • CBC-TV goes commercial-free on Sunday, Dec. 25th

The holidays are fast approaching, and CBC Television is preparing a wonderful festive season of new specials and traditional family favourites. CBC stars including Steven and Chris, George Stroumboulopoulos, the 22 Minutes gang – even the Dragons – have something special to share this holiday season! In addition to holiday fare from CBC’s resident personalities, a wide range of Hollywood’s seasonal favourites – both vintage chestnuts and modern day classics – are being screened, from Miracle on 34th Street (Saturday, December 24 at 8 p.m./8:30 NT), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Thursday, December 15 at 8 p.m./8:30 NT) and Dr. Seuss: How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Sunday, December 11 at 7 p.m./7:30 NT) to NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS Vacation (Sunday, December 18 at 8 p.m./8:30 NT), Home Alone (Sunday, December 11 at 8 p.m./8:30 NT) and Elf (Sunday, December 4 at 8 p.m./8:30 NT).

Steven and Chris have you covered with amazing DIY projects and festive decor tips to make your holiday sparkle. From party pleasing appetizers to decadent desserts, the food team will create a full holiday menu that will wow your guests; the guys dish on great gift ideas for everyone on your shopping list; and The Steven and Chris beauty team has the latest holiday hair, make-up and fashion looks.

December 19 – December 23 at 2 p.m. (2:30 NT)

The holiday magic continues with festive tips from Season 4, including gift wrap ideas, decorating the perfect tree, decking the halls with joyful decor, and serving up delectable holiday treats.

December 26 – December 30 at 2 p.m. (2:30 NT)

Some of the best Steven and Chris episodes from this season with notable guests including Jann Arden, Chef Rocco Dispirito and Nadia G.

22 Minutes Holiday Special

Tuesday, December 13 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT)

From the Christmas Tree lighting on Parliament Hill to last minute shopping at one of Canada’s busiest malls, tune in for a very 22 Minutes take on the holidays. Get advice on how to handle all the holiday season stress, from dealing with the in-laws to finding the perfect gift for the Prime Minister on your list. Special guests include original cast members Mary Walsh and Greg Thomey, and Dragons’ Den’s Kevin O’Leary turning A Christmas Carol on its head as an unforgettable Scrooge.

Dragons’ Den – The Holiday Episode

Wednesday, December 14 at 8 p.m. (8:30 pm NT)

On the special holiday episode of Dragons’ Den, holiday wrapping meets its match, a new seasonal light dazzles the Dragons and it’s Hockey Night in the Den with an original sporty belt.

George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight holiday music special

Friday, December 23 at 11:05 pm (11:35 pm NT)

This special holiday episode features a spin on the classic 1977 Bowie-Crosby duet “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy” with Martin Short, as well as top Canadian musical talent from Michael Bublé and Adam Cohen to Coeur de Pirate, and more, plus tales of holiday hijinx from celebrities including Jann Arden, Sebastian Bach and Kermit the Frog.

Kids’ CBC Holiday Morning

Saturday, Dec. 24th (6 a.m./6:30 NT to Noon/12:30 NT)

All across the country from 6 a.m. to noon (6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. NT) see holiday episodes of some of your favourite Kids’ CBC shows including Super WHY! episodes “The Nutcracker” (6 a.m.) and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” (8:30 a.m./9 NT) and The Doodlebops “A Happy Doodle Holiday” (9 a.m./9:30 NT). Beginning at 9:30 a.m./10 NT look for school-aged favourites such as My Goldfish is Evil and Artzooka! along with holiday episodes of Naughty, Naughty Pets and Leon.
