Ratings: Dragons’ Den and Republic of Doyle crack 1 million

From a media release:

DOYLE AND THE DRAGONS EACH DRAW MORE THAN ONE MILLION VIEWERS AS CBC-TV’S WINTER SEASON PREMIERES CONTINUE TO SIZZLE

The rollicking exploits of Allan Hawco as St. John’s’ swaggering sleuth, Jake Doyle, won REPUBLIC OF DOYLE its largest season premiere ever last night.

According to the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM), more than 1.3 million viewers (1,361,000 total; 520,000 in the 25-54 age demographic) caught the season premiere of REPUBLIC OF DOYLE – a jump of 22 per cent over last season’s premiere episode.

DRAGONS’ DEN, the top Canadian reality program, attracted nearly 1.5 million viewers (1,496,000 total; 580,000 25-54) with a special “second chance” episode which saw entrepreneurs who had previously struck out with the Dragons vying once again to strike new partnership deals.

Last night’s results bring to five the total of new and returning CBC-TV shows drawing more than one million viewers in their winter season premieres: MARKETPLACE, MR. D., ARCTIC AIR and now DRAGONS’ DEN and REPUBLIC OF DOYLE.
