Jasmine chooses her leading man on The Bachelorette Canada

After 10 dramatic episodes, Bachelorette Canada star Jasmine Lorimer made her decision on Tuesday night. With the beaches of Cuba as the backdrop, Jasmine chose Kevin over Mikhel in the season finale.

Mikhel took the bad news surprisingly well in front of Jasmine, telling her he had her back regardless of what she decided.

“You are one of the best people that I’ve ever met in my entire life,” she began. “I don’t know the last time anyone has made me feel as cared about and as supported as you have made me feel. I have meant every single word that I’ve said to you, but I feel I’ve developed a stronger relationship with someone else. And I feel sort of crazy for having to say goodbye to someone as amazing as you. It feels wrong, but I know that you deserve the best, and you’re going to find that person.”

I know Mikhel was crushed, but I felt pretty badly too. After all, Mikhel spent the first half of the episode on an emotional high, positive Jasmine would choose him and he’d be slipping a simple engagement ring on her finger. Instead, he got a hug, a broken heart and a lonely ride to the airport.

“I’m sad that I don’t get to have Jasmine,” he said while on the road before delivering a truly sad line: “I just don’t know what people want from me. I’m literally the best man I know how to be right now. I don’t know how else to be a better person. I don’t know what else I can do.”

Meanwhile, the man who made such a great first impression on Jasmine was the one she picked. Despite misgivings about his commitment to the process and a seriously scary mother, Jasmine picked Kevin to be her man. The fact she kept him despite his jealous tendencies and protective mom was a true indication of how much she cared for Kevin.

“I really felt, early on, that you and I had something that I didn’t have with anyone else,” she said. “I think that you are one of the most incredible people that I’ve ever met and there been a crazy electricity from the start. I care about you so much and I love you.”

She also said yes to Kevin’s proposal, and he slipped the glittery bauble on her finger and he accepted the final rose of the season.

Then it was time for the After the Final Rose special, with host Noah Cappe welcoming Jasmine, Kevin and Mikhel to the stage to talk about their experiences. Here’s what we learned:

  • The ladies love Mikhel.
  • Mikhel still loves Jasmine.
  • Mikhel is a classy dude.
  • Jasmine and Kevin have had conflict after the show was over.
  • Kevin got a haircut.
  • Jill likes Jasmine.

  1. Jasmine picked the wrong guy. Guys like Kevin are a lot of work and exhausting! I used to always choose men like him but for once I chose a man who puts me above everything else and I tell you truthfully no comparison it is “a breath of fresh air!” It is such a waste of time to argue and be miserable and then waste 4-5 years of our lives realizing its never going to work. So then we are 30-35 and life goes fast then your 40 and having to start all over again?? Why bother? Don’t waste your time in your prime years being unhappy and stressed out. Choose someone like Mikhel who is genuine and has not only his feet on the ground but who is also level headed and just makes perfect sense.

Please all you women out there don’t keep falling for the bad guy look because you know what? You get the bad guy!

    1. You’re so right. On top of that they’re going to face a lot of issues with his family (well his Mom), though her family didn’t seem that into him either. This does not make a good recipe. It’s a lot of work, in and out of that relationship. Sometimes the continual drama is so much work, that you don’t even realize that you’re not really happy. I noticed that in general, she was always smiling with Mikhel, which I thought said alot. With Kevin, she often didn’t appear happy, because they were always dealing with an issue. I too came to the same conclusion that you did about Kevin. He is work. He seems a bit emotionally unstable and it is going to be a full time job dealing with his emotions… and then his mother’s.

    2. Wow, that was incredibly well put! I am 110% with you on this. I made the same mistakes over and over again…now I’m 40 and if I could go back in time I would have looked for the Mikhel and avoided all the Kevin’s that have robbed me of the happiness that I have struggled for all these years.

    3. I agree. Love is blind. She is in for a tumulteous ride. Kevin has a bad temper and a mean streak. Good luck.

  2. I , too, think that Jasmine made a huge mistake!
Kevin was a nice enough guy but we could all see he could be explosive , jealous and unpredictable and thats a bad start to any relationship. There have already been conflicts in the first few months and I cry, red flag!
Been there, done that , then married the right one the second time around.

With Mikhel, she would have had a forever love. He would have loved her deeply and fully his whole life and I honestly feel, she would have not ever had a day where she didn’t know she was loved and cared for. He was just beaming with love for her and he was the most genuine, classy, amazing, smart and caring man. He was a man! pure and simple. The TOTAL package.
My #1 pick from the start along with Thomas!

Canada does love Mikhel and we wish him all the happiness in the world.
Secretly, I hope Jasmine sees the error of her ways and somehow, she and Mikhel end up together!

  4. Agree with all of the above. EArly on Kevin showed serious jealousy traits. Relationship is not going to last.

  5. After watching the Bachelorette Canada from the very first episode, I can’t believe I I missed the last and final episode. However, I knew all along she was going to pick Kevin anyway. Most women like the sexy bad boys. As for Kevin, they say “nice guys always finish last”. You can’t ignore chemistry, It sounds like its off to a bad start , but I wish Jasmine and Kevin a long and happy life together. “I think both of them should keep an eye on the green eyed monster though”.

  6. This women needs to give her head a shake I’m sorry but she picked the wrong guy when picked Kevin. I don’t think they have nothing in common and she is setting herself up for a big disappointment. Sorry to say this but girly you haven’t thought things out very clearly

  8. We can’t know or judge Jasmine’s true feelings, but from an outside perspective it does seem that she chose lust over love. I don’t doubt that she felt a connection with both men, but I feel she chose the more superficial relationship of the two. Mihkel is pure class and a truly kind and genuine person. Anyone could see how much he cared for Jasmine and what a loving and devoted partner he would be. I don’t think Kevin is a bad man, but he was jealous and overbearing early on which is alarming. Jasmine is obviously attracted to Kevin and while a physical connection is important, it’s not enough to sustain a relationship. His mother is a completely other problem and I can’t imagine getting engaged to someone with so much animosity coming from a close family member. She will be a nightmare mother in-law.
I wish Jasmine the best and hope everything works out, but have doubt that it will with Kevin. He still has so much maturing to do before he is ready for the kind of commitment that Jasmine wants.
I wish the best for Mihkel. I sincerely hope he finds true, lasting love. A man as good as him is a rarity and any person would be lucky to have him as a partner.

  9. I am in shock! My heart broke for Mikhel as if it was my own heart being broken. What was Jasmine thinking? Kevin seems like a petulant boy who has a lot of growing up to do, along with his mother who is not much better. I thought Jasmine was more level-headed as I saw her eliminating contenders in a shrewd and wise way all along. Then at the end, she seemed to have lost all her reason. Oh to be in my 20’s again, I would follow Mikhel to the ends of the earth. To be so loved by someone like him would be a dream come true.

    1. I feel the same way as you do. I have watched the Bachelor and Bachelorette right from the the first season and I have never seen a man on that show that even came close to him. Oh to be young again….I would snatch him up in a second. He has got every quality a woman should look for in a guy. Jasmine made a huge mistake.

  10. Jasmine picked the wrong guy. Unlike Kaitlyn Bristowe who was smart to pick Shawn who was genuinely in love with her and showed his jealousy while there was the passion that she couldn’t resist from Nick and knew it wouldn’t sustain in rough times. Mikhel is the better choice for a lifetime relationship that can grow with time.

  11. I think the show should have different endings. No engagement no ring. The show is stressful already being in front of cameras. Your never your true self until ur alone with the person in your own home your own comfort zone. They need to give the couple some more time. You can’t know in that short period of time not possible esspecially if u have feelings for 2 men. But Kevin fought for her. Yes the relationship will need lots of work, but all relationships need a lot of work. With mikele it looked easy cause it was a new fresh relationship. There were still infatuated. They really didn’t know a lot about each other it’s all about feelings in the beginning. With Kevin it was real from the beginning. There connection is strong. they were true about the feelings there is realily they worked at it junk and all. I think Kevin was the good choice.

    1. she met both Mikhel and Kevin at the same time…her relationship with Kevin was also a “new and fresh relationship”. She didn’t know Kevin any better than she knew Mikhel. With Kevin, it was “lust at first sight” (don’t know why, he is odd looking imo, very much a caveman look to him with his big block head!) Kevin was the WRONG choice…her mom said it best…Kevin is the type of guy Jasmine always goes for…and those relationships never lasted. I doubt very much it will be any different with Kevin…and don’t even get me started on his mom! Run Jasmine, RUN!

  12. I’ll take Mickel any day over Kevin. Jasmine I wish you all the nest but I think you made the wrong choice. You should have listened to your mom!!!

  13. Kevin reminds me of an ex I had in my twenties. He displayed some jealous behaviour which I chalked up to him being protective and caring. It all went pear shaped when he got very controlling and it got ugly. I can see the same characteristics in Kevin and think he will keep Jasmine on a very short leash. It seems to be all about his family too and boy oh boy…good luck with his mother! She is super controlling and things will have to be done her way.

  14. When they break up, Jasmine should crawl back to Mikhel, who being the classy guy that he is, and truly loves her, and understood that she had to make a hard choice, will take her back. AND STICK WITH HER.

    DK

    1. Yes, and I believe it will happen. Christmas Holidays will be happy if she breaks up with Kevin NOW. I want her to happy more than anything. Jasmine should talk with her Mother and sister and follow her heart!! Relationships take work, but it should not be like a battle and torture, and conflict. Body language says so much. She will follow her your head and heart and they both now know what to do.

  15. I think Jasmine already knows she made a mistake by choosing Kevin. It shows in her eyes and emotions after seeing Mikhel on the finale show. Kevin may love her now but the red flags are there already since the proposal. I don’t believe it will truly stand the test of time and hope Jasmine will see this and contact Mikhel who really loves her and that they are together someday. Mikhel is a true gentleman and his love for Jasmine is strong and true. I truly hope all works out for both Jasmine and Mikhel. Kevin will understand.

  16. Jasmine has made a big mistake! Likely Kevin is going to show himself to be a jealous jerk and probably not nice to say, a bit of a lunkhead. Good luck to her anyway…. Maybe Mikhel will do the Batchelor, although I think the ladies will flock to him without a television show. Good luck to them all, Linda

  18. Jasmine made her choice. It is not up to us to bash her decision. They don’t deserve all the negativity. I was team Kevin all the way. I am glad she chose Kevin. I hope they can work out their issues. It was disturbing watching the after show. It was obvious something was wrong. Kevin’s mom should cut the ties and let her son grow up. Be happy Kevin found his love. Be happy for him. Maybe his mom should concentrate on her own marriage and life. All the best to Jasmine and Kevin. I am routing for the both of you. Stay strong.

  19. Physical attraction is important but for a lasting happy life you need a man that is your friend, loves you, and has your back. That is a love that lasts. Attraction is important but when you have trials and tribulations in life you need
A love that is always there and has your back. She will find this wisdom when it is too late.

I hope I am wrong but at my age I have seen the true loves and tha attractions that burn bright and die out just as quickly.

  20. Firstly, I want to commend Jasmine L. for being soo honest with the viewers, that takes a lot of guts! Big respect for her!!! Also, loved the way she always called out the guys on their behaviour! She might want to seek a new career and become a councillor or something!!! She’d rock at it!!!
Mikhel was the guy I choose for Jasmine on the very first episode, and I chose Kevin as the runner up! Mikhel had very genuine and gentle eyes and a humble caring attitude, which you could see from start to finish. He was also a very respectful gentleman too and always put Jasmine’s every need 1st, kissing her hand and forehead a lot, which is a sign of true adoration, caring, love, and respect.
I think Mikhel would have been a wiser choice, even Jasmine kept saying how loved , supported and cared for he made her feel. Their love would have developed very strongly under normal circumstances……way too much pressure on a show like this, it is a bit of a recipe for failure. I agree with an earlier comment, that an engagement shouldn’t be the end goal, too hard on people. So, why did she choose Kevin? Yes I know, chemistry!!! You need to look for a best friend too!!! I can only conclude that Jasmine likes a challenge, which I think she will sadly get, especially with Kevin’s over protective mom!!! Yikes!!!! My own in-laws where very controlling and negative, but not quite as bad as Kevin’s mom, and they came between our marriage so much that I almost left my soulmate because of how miserable they made me and that is the only thing we ever fought about for 25 years!!! I stayed because of my strong love for my husband, but I endured a lot of stress and tears over the years, so good luck with Kevin’s mom Jasmine!!!
Saying all of that, I truly pray that all of these people find true “soul-mate love” and peace in their hearts and in their lives. Many blessings to all to be able to navigate all of this.
    my sincere best wishes.

  21. Kevin is high maintenance! After the ‘final rose’ was very telling: she realizes she made a mistake and loves Mikhail. I hope she breaks it off with Kevin and ends up with Mikhail. Canada would understand and applaud her.

  22. Very dissapointing, and yes, I feel like choosing Kevin was a mistake. My heart broke for Mikhail. I cried. And on the finale, Jasmine’s mothers facial expression said it all. She felt Mikhail was the better choice. Mikhail for the next bachelor – I’d apply.

  23. Before the final rose I play my PVR 3-4 times a day just to watch how Michkel truly love jasmine. He is so pure and loving. Hope he will be next bachelor and ladies will crush the show.
I can feel how much he comfort jasmine during the final rose . He is an inspiration
