Production begins on Season 11 of Murdoch Mysteries

From a media release:

Number-one Canadian drama Murdoch Mysteries has begun production on Season 11. After celebrating the long-running series’ 150th episode in the season 10 finale, filming is now underway on 18 new one-hour episodes. The most-watched Canadian scripted television series in Canada with an average of 1.3 million viewers per week* on CBC, the ever-popular homegrown hit series will continue to delve into murder, mystery, and Canadian history in a powerhouse eleventh season. The series will film on location in Ontario until December 2017 and premiere on CBC this fall, followed by international rollout in early 2018.

The twist-filled season 10 finale saw the futures of Detective Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) and the heroes of Station House No. 4 in jeopardy amidst a corruption investigation gone awry. Season 11 will pick up with the aftermath of the finale’s events that left the lives of Murdoch’s beloved Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) and Constables George Crabtree (Jonny Harris), Henry Higgins (Lachlan Murdoch), and Slugger Jackson (Kristian Bruun) at stake and their fates unknown. Can Murdoch rely on Rebecca James (Mouna Traoré) or Detective Watts (Daniel Maslany) to help crack the case? Will Brackenreid make it out alive and home to his wife Margaret (Arwen Humphreys)? Season 11 storylines will feature a number of Canadian and international historical figures including physician William Osler and Helen Keller, the return of artist Tom Thomson, President Theodore Roosevelt, and Alexander Graham Bell and feature a roster of new guest stars including Tamzin Outhwaite (Eastenders, New Tricks), Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?), and Elise Bauman (Carmilla, Below Her Mouth), as well as returning guest stars including Peter Keleghan (Workin’ Moms) and David Hewlett (Incorporated, Stargate: Atlantis).

“We’re proud to continue bringing the adventures of Detective Murdoch to viewers at home and around the world week after week. Coming off of a formidable tenth season during which we celebrated big award wins, 150 episodes and the expansion of the brand into new realms including an escape room game in Toronto, we are now looking ahead to a thrilling season 11 and beyond,” said Christina Jennings, Executive Producer, Murdoch Mysteries / Chairman & CEO, Shaftesbury.

Season 11 episodes will be directed by showrunner Peter Mitchell, Megan Follows, Leslie Hope, Gary Harvey, Sherren Lee, Eleanor Lindo, Laurie Lynd, Don McCutcheon, and Alison Reid. Mitchell also writes episodes this season, along with Paul Aitken, Graham Clegg, Noelle Girard, Natalia Guled, Simon McNabb, Mary Pedersen, Robert Rotenberg, Lori Spring, Dan Trotta, and Maureen Jennings, author of the Detective Murdoch series of novels

  1. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the conclusion, coming in season 11. It’s a good thing that I have season 1 to 10. I watch these over and over again keeping my Murdoch obsession in check. Bring on season 11!!!!

    1. Me, too au moi, aussi! I came to this series late, but have gone through all ten season.s. I love it and especially enjoy and look forward to the history–characters and events. I have begun re-runs of the seasons, awaiting season 11.

  2. I absolutely enjoy this show the actors are great, story lines keep you in suspense, The historical figures are wonderful and the way history is woven into the plots is great. I have all 10 seasons recorded and can not wait for number 11. Keep it up. Please don’t kill off Crabtree, Higgins, Jackson,
    Brackenreid or Dr Ogden.

  3. There is still so much we don’t know about our favorite characters; this will be a great ride!

  4. Please keep Crabtree and Gus Jackson. I also hope there is at least 1 guest appearance by Nigel Bennett. That was a powerful scene between Murdock and Giles. Further the character of Gus Jackson was really well developed on the episode about the hidden cadavers

    1. I have just finished the 10th season of murdocy mysteries and am so disapointed that series 11 is not readily available. Unfortunately I live in Florida and I do not know how, or if there is a way for me to view programs for the CBC If there is a way I will find it. If no I will be try to be patient

      1. AcornTV.com is the streaming service for the company which produces the show and I have paid for a subscription. I found MM on Netflix and binged watched the first 4 seasons in a weekend. I googled it and found the remaining seasons on the site. My hope, (oh please TV gods !!!) is that the season 11 episodes will post to Acorn a day or two after they air in Canada. Because l live in Mississippi :-).

        1. I just enjoyed the MM so so much, and the cliff hanger after series 10 and the episode was to to much. Will watch Mississippi Mystereries. On Netflex you might enjoy watching Arrow.

        2. I’m with you Mississippi – I live in Decatur, GA – and can hardly wait. Just finished in on AcornTV app. This is the best clean murder mystery ever. Mystery is what it is all about. WOW

  5. Hi from the North of England! I’m drip-feeding myself the last 3 episodes of Season 10, having watched every other episode, because I can’t bear to wait for Season 11 to begin. Please don’t kill off any of the main characters, it just wouldn’t be the same without the ‘gang’!

    1. Let me know how you feel after the last episode of season 10. I am absolutely sure that Murdock Mysteries will continue. One of the best series i have watched. Tell me of the others that you have enjoyed. Thanks

  6. I have more confidence than many of the viewers that the main characters will be back!

Gun shot heard but no body, I am sure the Inspector will be ok.

Same at the church. Crabtree will be ok.

If they can claim to send a man into outter space and have hom return. They can have all the main characters survive!

  7. Just wondering lf a series 11 off murdoch’s mystery will be aired I have watched all 10 series and can’t wait to see what happens next. If so when will sees 11 be available to watch.

  8. Love, love, love the show. I can’t wait till season 11, I now have my ten year old granddaughter watching. When we watch the show we always look up the historical characters and my granddaughter learns history without knowing it. They should require this show as a class . I think the children will learn a lot. Keep up the good work

  9. I just finished rewatching the season finally .I do hope Brakenreid comes back is not killed. Hope Davis does not come back .The actor surely play the part well. They better not have kill Crabtree because you will lose me as a fan. Maybe it was Higgins that got killed. My husband says it won’t hurt him to see Dr Ogden not come back .If she does have the writers write better lines to make her sound intelligent not stupid. When does the the Season 11 start I mean what time and date does it really start?

    1. I think ur husband needs to remember the saying “if u don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”…Dr. Ogden makes this show watchable…she is Murdoch’s anchor! I am praying she is fine and will be back.

  10. I Google historical figures to see if they were in Toronto around the date line in the story, I have a lot of time on my hands, but hey, it’s fun

  11. I can hardly wait for the next season to begin, and hope I live long enough to see the whole series.

  12. Discovered Murdoch and company six or seven years ago. Binge watched what there was and kept steady company with all seasons since. Been watching season 10 a bit more slowly, since I’ve already heard about the cliffhanger ending and want season 11, episode 1 to be close by after I watch Season 10’s finale! I live in Illinois USA, have subscribed to Acorn TV for years and watch shows from all over the world now–England, Wales, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand… Some are on Amazon, Netflix and Hulu also. Love Doctor Blake, Brokenwood, Hinterland, Midsomer Murders, and others. And to allow myself that much TV, I do sit on my exercise bike for a lot of it! (I’m trying to pedal to virtual Canada, at least!) As we wait for Season 11 of Murdoch, please sample some of these other great mysteries! Global TV! It’s amazing!

  13. I forgot to mention in my previous comment that the theme music is “dy-no-mite!” Please don’t touch it! My husband who is difficult to please and hardly ever watches tv enjoys both the music and the historical characters and events. Bravo!!! Love this show. I am watching reruns, waiting for season 11.

  14. Wife and I really enjoy the MM series. The season 10 finale was…. I have no words. Please keep all the characters. And bring back Grace. What a really great series….if being nice does not work, I will resort to idle threats…

  15. I also have 1-10 DVDs and watch them over and over–#10 was so exciting-I had to watch it over and over to catch the great lines. For me it is so great to not have to hear cusing and have a plot around sex
I fell social issues should be kept out—as a a Crisis intervention specialist-I see that -things are not always as positive as we would want–My group sees the worst of the failures in society. I guess that is why
we in this field love MM series–intelligent. caring, exciting-great love story—in real life do Murdock and Ogden fall in love?
