Everything about Flashpoint, eh?

Farewell to Flashpoint

From John Doyle of the Globe and Mail

From Scott Stinson of the National Post:

From Tony Wong of the Toronto Star:

  • Flashpoint finale: Out with a bang
The unabashed genius of Flashpoint was in proving that Canadians could outdo the Americans in making purely pyrotechnic television. There were enough explosions and quick edits combined with a hardcore soundtrack to seem — perhaps disconcertingly for some — a little more Michael Bay than any Canadian show had a right to be. The Littlest Hobo it was not. Read more.

From Brad Oswald of the Winnipeg Free Press:

  • An explosive, fitting end for Flashpoint
With a bang. Actually, an earth-shaking series of them. Definitely not a whimper. That’s how the producers of the groundbreaking CTV drama Flashpoint have decided to bring the series to an end, with a two-part finale that is as big and loud and dangerous and suspenseful as anything they’ve attempted in the show’s five-season run. Flashpoint, CTV – “Keep The Peace” series finale part one
An explosive package planted at the 911 call centre is just the beginning of the most challenging call of Team One’s career. A series of bombs in public buildings tear the city apart with terror as Team One juggles high-risk rescues, multiple diffusions, and fear for its members own loved ones. Just as they begin to grasp the chilling truth behind the bomber’s mission, a diffusion takes a shocking and tragic turn.

Following the episode there will be a live video After Show on CTV.ca. Viewers can submit questions for show stars and co-creators through the live chat at CTV.ca/LiveChat starting at 10 p.m. ET. Immediately following the broadcast at 11 p.m. ET, series stars Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau, Sergio Di Zio, and creators Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern will participate in our first ever live video After Show (also at CTV.ca/LiveChat) giving fans an unprecedented extension of the viewing experience. Throughout the chat they’ll answer the submitted fan questions and give their behind-the-scenes insight into what it was like working on the show.

The Nature of Things, CBC – “Lights Out”
We explore how the type of light we are exposed to in the hours between dusk and bedtime can play tricks on our bodies and cancel the healthful benefits naturally triggered by the absence of light.

Doc Zone, CBC – Tales from KP
With its foreboding walls and infamous residents, including notorious murderers Paul Bernardo and Russell Williams, Kingston Penitentiary has been shrouded in mystery. With a recent announcement that it will be closing its doors in just under two years, the final chapter looms for “KP”, as it’s known locally, but the stories live on forever. TALES FROM KP unlocks some of the most carefully guarded secrets in the history of the place —and introduces some of the most unlikely characters you’ll ever meet—on both sides of the law. This evocative hour long documentary features rare access to the prison, and features re-enactments and a style reminiscent of the “Crime Illustrated” magazines of the 1940s.

The Liquidator, OLN – “Collecting Cash”
There’s a cardinal rule in the world of buy-and-sell: Never fall in love with your merchandise. But when Jeff finally decides to part with his beloved Motorcycle Monster statue, fellow-collector Rick appears to tempt him with even more novelty attractions.
