From Kat Angus of Dose:

  • Interview: Project Runway Canada’s Jessica Biffi
“When the second season of Project Runway Canada began, few people would have predicted Jessica Biffi would make it so far. The cute, quirky designer was undeniably charming, but both the judges and the other designers wondered if Biffi had what it took to make it in the fashion world.” Read more.
  • Brian Bailey Dishes on Project Runway Canada
“Project Runway Canada has finished its second season, and after many difficult challenges, Sunny Fong was named the winner. Through the months of competition, Brian Bailey was there for it all, and here, the fashion designer and mentor reflects on the final Toronto Fashion Week show, how the designers fared and the Project Runway Canada season as a whole.” Read more.

From the Canadian Press:

  • Sunny Fong excited at career prospects after winning ‘Project Runway Canada?
“From the first week to the last, Toronto fashion designer Sunny Fong seemed a step above the competition on reality television show Project Runway Canada. Now that he’s won the competition – and $100,000 to start his own fashion line – he’s not taking a break. ‘It means I actually have to work,’ Fong said Wednesday. ‘I still can’t believe it. It’s really unreal and strange at the same time. I’m still in shock.’” Read more.

Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT on Global

Designer Genevieve Graham was sent home for the second time on Project Runway Canada last night…

Genevieve was forced out of her comfort zone when faced with designing a tailored business suit for the modern woman. Overdesign and construction problems resulted in an ill-fitting design that to Shawn missed the glass ceiling in 1980. Poor lines and fit issues highlighted Genevieve’s lack of versatility and cost her a position in the final three.

  • Project Runway Canada: Adejoke and Kim leave
“In teams of two, the designers had to create one avant-garde look and one ready-to-wear look, using only camping materials for fabric. If Genevieve and Jason won the challenge, they would get to stay, while both members of the losing team would be out. If they didn’t win, however, they would once again be sent on their way.” Read more.

From Myles McNutt at Cultural Learnings:

  • Project Runway Canada Season Two – Episode Nine
“When three people left in the first episode of the season, this was an inevitability: it was almost required that there would be some kind of twist where people could gain the chance to come back into the season. It was even something they did last season: finalist Marie-Genvieve was eliminated after a particularly erroneous garment, but then returned to end up clearly better than most of her competition.” Read more.

  • Brian Bailey’s thoughts on PRC episode 8
“Each week, Project Runway Canada mentor Brian Bailey reveals his thoughts on the latest episode. This week, Bailey looks at who thrived and who struggled with the Coco Rocha challenge, in which the designers had to create a dress for the Canadian supermodel to wear at New York Fashion Week.” Read more.

  • Project Runway Canada: Exit Interview with Genevieve Graham
“Last night’s episode of Project Runway Canada saw the five remaining designers compete in a challenge to dress Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha for a New York Fashion Week event. Unfortunately, Genevieve Graham’s trademark draping design failed to impress the judges, with Iman telling Graham that she needed to diversify as she left the runway. Sunny Fong was honoured with the prospect of Coco Rocha wearing what the judges called a “cheeky” dress, when he won the second last challenge before the final three are left.” Read more.

From Myles McNutt of Cultural Learnings:

  • Project Runway Canada Season 2 – “Episode 8″
“This is going to be a pretty short one, because this episode is as simple as it gets: no gimmicks, no major drama, just five designers given a task to create an outfit for a supermodel. While I think that Adejoke’s depressed take on the challenge was a little bit off kilter, she’s right: while it sounds like this should be really exciting as an opportunity for young and new designers to showcase their work on a grand stage, in reality it’s not actually that interesting.” Read more.

smallFrom Jessica Biffi at GuelphMercury.com:

  • Jessica Biffi wins Project Runway Challenge
“The latest Project Runway Canada challenge winner was Jessica Biffi who grew up in Guelph. This is her second consecutive challenge win. Jessica’s dress is modelled by Jane Knox, a breast cancer survivor who lives in Toronto and ironically worked for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation before being diagnosed herself. Jessica’s challenge-winning dress was purchased by 3M Canada immediately after the auction began using the “Buy it Now” function of the online auction for $10,000.” Read more.

smallFrom Myles McNutt at Cultural Learnings:

  • Project Runway Canada Season 2 – “Episode Seven”
“There is a point in this week’s episode where I was reminded about what makes Project Runway Canada a really interesting counterpoint to its American predecessor. In the critiques for the challenge, which involves making dresses out of post-it notes for breast cancer survivors, Shawn Hewson stands up for one of the dresses which is labeled as a costume. He throws his hands up in the air as the other judges start throwing around the term as some sort of slight, and points out that they’re asking designers to make a dress out of post-it notes, and that there is a necessary elements of costuming entering into this challenge. They were given a cheesy word of inspiration, a primary material which comes in loud and obnoxious colours…could they really be surprised to get costumes?” Read more.
