Bomb Girls take charge

From Bryan Cairns of Huffington Post:

  • ‘Bomb Girls’: A TV Miniseries Where Women Rule the Roost
Visiting the “Bomb Girls” set is like being transported back to the early ’40s. The six-part miniseries, which revolves around the dedicated Canadian women who stepped up to work in a munitions factory during World War II, is shot in Toronto, and has the look and feel of a “Mad Men” – “Pan Am” hybrid. Naturally, the producers took special care to capture the war vibe of the ’40s, and the intricate details will be impossible to miss when the miniseries premieres on January 4 at 8 p.m. on Global TV. Bomb Girls welcomes Meg Tilly back to acting

From Sean Plummer of MSN:

  • Bomb Girls welcomes Meg Tilly back to acting

Blackstone returns in one week

From a media release:

APTN World Premiere: Blackstone Season Two

Blackstone is back for its second season with more booze, sex, scandals, and dirty water. At the end of its first award-winning season, Blackstone viewers were left with more questions than answers. Chief Andy Fraser (Eric Schweig) was up to his old antics, causing trouble for many members of the fictitious Blackstone First Nation. What was Andy doing with the gun at the end of the first season? Did he kill his own brother?

What about former Chief Leona Stoney (Carmen Moore)? Did she grow weary of trying to make a positive difference in her home community? How does she deal with the constant barriers put in her way by Blackstone’s current Chief and Council? Will her sister Gail (Michelle Thrush) conquer her addiction?

Find the answers to these questions and more Wednesday, January 11 as APTN broadcasts the much-awaited world premiere of Blackstone season two.

Season one of the series was recognized with two Gemini nods, including Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for Michelle Thrush, and multiple wins at the 2011 Leo Awards and the 2011 Alberta Film and Television Awards.
