SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Season 2 Cross-Country Audition Details

  • Audition tour hits five Canadian cities beginning April 4 in Vancouver
  • Tour details available at dance.ctv.ca
  • CTV confirms return of cast, including host Leah Miller

The wait is over: it’s time to get up and dance Canada! CTV announced today the details for the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Season 2 cross-country audition tour, beginning April 4 in Vancouver. The five-city tour also makes stops in Edmonton, AB (April 7) and Saint John, NB (April 21) for the first time, as well as Toronto, ON (May 18) and Montréal, QC (May 26). More than 2,500 hopefuls auditioned for the heart-pounding inaugural season of the smash-hit series, which proved not only that Canadians can dance, but that Canada has some of the best dancers in the world. Who will be the next dancer to make Jean Marc Genereux’s VID (Very Important Dancer) list? Only those who break it down for the judges will have a chance to make the list, and become Canada’s next Favourite Dancer, taking home the $100,000 prize.

CTV also confirmed today that the charismatic cast from Season 1 will return, including host Leah Miller. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s esteemed panel of Canadian experts include Canada’s international ballroom champion Jean Marc Genereux and Canadian dancer extraordinaire Tré Armstrong. Also returning as guest judges are edgy choreographer Blake McGrath and hip-hop guru Luther Brown.

“I was blown away by the talent that came out to the first audition tour and am really excited to be a part of the search for Canada’s next favourite dancer!” said Host Leah Miller.

The SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Season 2 cross-country auditions are open to all Canadians who, as of April 1, 2009, are of the age of majority in the province/territory in which they reside, and are no older than 30 years of age. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in each city. For up-to-date information, visit the series’ official website, dance.ctv.ca.

Interview: The Line co-creators George F. Walker and Dani Romain

From me at Blogcritics (yeah, sorry for another punny title):

  • Cops and Drug Dealers Cross The Line In New Series
“The Movie Network and Movie Central are premiering a new cop show today, but don’t expect another case-of-the-week premise. ‘These cops weren’t going to investigate anything because they think they know all they need to know, so it’s just a matter of what they’re going to do about it,’ said The Line co-creator George F. Walker in a recent interview. ‘They don’t follow procedures. They are past caring about their jobs.'” Read more.

Review: The Line shows ugliness of life

From John Doyle of the Globe and Mail, includes a review of the TV movie Death or Canada, too:

  • The ugliness of life in Toronto
“The Line has plenty of panache and is directed with aplomb by Gail Harvey. But, by heavens it gets overheated. All that anger, rage and aggression. It’s entertaining, but it’s smug. It’s fine drama but full of itself, a bourgeois indulgence, peeking at the rough side of life and premised on a phony idea of despair.” Read more.
