image002In the premiere episode, the country’s most talented up-and-coming designers are sent straight to the fashion front lines. Host Iman and Mentor Brian Bailey greet the designers at the Canadian War Museum and deliver the first challenge. Drama ensues when two designers face the toughest – and most surprising – challenge of their fashion careers. It’s a race against time as the designers prepare to show their first creations at a special, public runway show. Joe Zee, Creative Director of U.S. ELLE magazine, guest judges and declares the season’s first challenge winner and the first eliminated designer. Who will make the cut?

    “Aside from her 14-year-old cosmetics company designed specifically for women of colour, Iman’s zeal for the issue also lead her to partake in two round-table discussions called Blacks in Fashion in New York. She said the talks, organized by pioneering black model and agent Bethann Hardison, caused Prada to use Jourdan Dunn for their fall 2008 collection, its first black model since Naomi Campbell in fall 1997.” Read more.
