ZOS: Zone of Separation premieres Jan. 19

ZOS: ZONE OF SEPARATION (NEW CANADIAN ORIGINAL SERIES)

Premieres Monday, January 19 at 10 p.m. on The Movie Network (9 p.m. PT on Movie Central)

Co-executive produced by Paul Gross, ZOS: Zone of Separation is a new, eight-part Canadian original drama series about the life and death struggle to enforce a U.N.-brokered ceasefire in the fictional, Sarajevo-like town of Jadac. Unarmed military observers try to defuse crises and maintain the fragile ceasefire between the Christians and Muslims. They move between the rival factions, always in danger, always distrusted – even by the armed U.N. soldiers that have arrived in town to maintain order by any means necessary. The series captures the absurdist reality of living in a violent zone of separation, as well as the real costs to the peacekeepers dropped in to police it. Starring Colm Meaney, Lolita Davidovich, Michelle Nolden, Rick Roberts, Enrico Colantoni and Allan Hawco.

In the news: Brent Butt interview

From John Doyle of the Globe and Mail:

  • All gassed up and going places
“Brent Butt is sitting in a coffee shop, sipping strong coffee, when I arrive to talk to him. I go to the counter to order something and I’m taken aback when the guy there asks me my name, what I do for living. When I tell him, he nods sagely, as if a great mystery has been explained. ‘So you’re here to write about the star,’ he says. Indeed I am.” Read more.
