  • Here lies a comedy whose life was cut short
“The Dead Beat is no masterpiece, but it is entertaining. It’s a bit of a mess at times, but it’s an interesting sort of mess, with really good stuff in it. It has one of the core ingredients for good farce – a person doing a job whose temperament is totally unsuited to the work.” Read more.

From Alex Strachan of Canwest News Service:

  • Alas, Dead Beat’s obituary has already been written. Pity, that.

There’s a chance another broadcaster may swoop in and pick it up, but that doesn’t happen often in Canadian TV — or in TV anywhere, for that matter. That’s a shame: Dead Beat shows signs of life, and deserves a shot.” Read more.
