‘Murdoch’ to rub shoulders with inventive royalty in Season 7
Det. William Murdoch has become quite the high (society) roller, hasn’t he? In six seasons, he’s crossed paths with the likes of Winston Churchill, Stephen Harper (portraying a clueless cop), Queen Victoria, Prince Alfred, Harry Houdini, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Henry Ford, just to name a few. He’s also run into storied inventors such as Nikola Tesla (alternating current) and Alexander Graham Bell (telephone), but none quite as influential, or as celebrated, as the two chaps he’ll be hangin’ with this coming, seventh season. After a masked gunman kidnaps a young woman from a locked psych ward, it becomes clear that the case is more complicated than it looks. Psych Crimes needs help from a new psychiatrist, Dr. Clara Malone (Brooke Nevin), before things spiral out of control in this thrilling tale of love on the run. Guest stars: Kacey Rohl, Stephen McHattie, Sebastian Pigott, Nicole De Boer, Rob Stewart.

Package Deal, City – “The Dinner”
Danny (Randal Edwards, The Killing) believes he’s found the perfect girl and Kim (Julia Voth, Bitch Slap) thinks she’s found the perfect guy, but things go awry when Danny introduces Kim to his intrusive brothers – Sheldon (Harland Williams, There’s Something About Mary) and Ryan (Jay Malone, Monk). As their meddling threatens to derail his relationship, Danny seeks advice and counsel from his favourite client, McKenzie (guest star Eugene Levy, American Pie) – who knows a lot about love since he’s on trial for murdering his wife. Realizing that Danny really cares about Kim, Sheldon and Ryan finally convince her to accept the fact that he’s already committed to his brothers, who come as part of a “package deal.”

Project: Guatemala, OLN and City – “The Hazing”
Tensions run high within the group as they begin to miss family and the modern conveniences of home. Later, the campers turn on each other and one individual threatens to leave the goodwill mission.

Intrepid Inspector Murdoch is at sea, metaphorically and literally (well, a lake), when Murdoch Mysteries returns for a seventh season Monday. A prominent shipping magnate has received a threat aboard a steamer, the S.S. Keewatin, during is its maiden voyage on Lake Ontario, on Victoria Day no less, and avowed landlubber Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) must shake out his sea legs and calm his queasy stomach to get to the bottom of the mystery. He’s still recovering from his emotional separation from Julia Ogden (Héléne Joy), and he hopes the new mystery will take his mind off recent events, if only temporarily. Continue reading.

Returning to CBC Television this fall for a dramatic seventh season is the number-one Canadian murder mystery, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, beginning on Monday, September 30 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT). In a new season full of surprises, Detective Murdoch continues to unravel the city’s most devious murder mysteries all while elevating his romance with Dr. Julia Ogden to new heights.

In the season premiere, Murdoch Ahoy, Murdoch and his team find themselves aboard a state-of-the-art steamship for its maiden voyage at the request of ship-owner Clarence MacFarlane. Worried about jealous competitors and wild anarchists, MacFarlane wants to ensure his guests — a selection of Toronto’s high and mighty — are safe. But their smooth sailing hits the rocks when MacFarlane’s daughter goes missing and it’s suspected she has gone overboard. The investigation turns chaotic and precarious as Murdoch finds himself unscrambling myriad lies and unexpected dangers on the ship. Will Murdoch and his team make it safely to land, or will the ship‘s inaugural voyage be its last?

Murdoch Ahoy was filmed aboard the only remaining Edwardian passenger steamship in the world, the S.S. Keewatin, which is now moored in Port McNicoll, Ontario. Built five years before the RMS Titanic, the S.S. Keewatin utilizes similar machinery, including a quadruple-expansion steam engine and Scotch boilers.

In season seven, Detective Murdoch crosses paths with famous figures, including Thomas Edison and Guglielmo Marconi, against a backdrop of historical events including the assassination of American President William McKinley and the death of Queen Victoria. Murdoch and his team investigate some of their most challenging cases to date as they probe an apparent zombie invasion, encounter the early days of “talkies” and the motion picture industry, and explore the dangerous underbelly of competitive sports.

Set in Toronto in the early 1900s, MURDOCH MYSTERIES explores the world of William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a dashing detective who uses inventive forensic techniques for the time to solve some of the city’s most gruesome crimes. Murdoch’s colleagues include Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris); Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig); feisty pathologist Dr. Emily Grace (Georgina Reilly); and the love of his life, pathologist-turned-psychiatrist Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), a staunch supporter who shares the detective’s fascination with science and innovation.
