Bell programming at the Canadian International Television Festival

Bell Media Announces Feature Programming at Inaugural Canadian International Television Festival, Nov. 16

Bell Media is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of Canada’s first and only public television festival, the Canadian International Television Festival (CITF), launching tomorrow from Toronto’s Bell TIFF Lightbox. With free screenings at the TIFF Bell Lightbox beginning Saturday, Nov. 16, the festival will showcase some of Canada’s best television series and talent.

Bell Media is proud to premiere two new Canadian original productions to fans on Saturday – CTV’s multi-cam workplace comedy SPUN OUT, starring Dave Foley (KIDS IN THE HALL, NEWSRADIO), and Bravo’s English adaption of the French-language smash hit 19-2, a richly nuanced human drama following the lives of patrol officers Ben Chartier (Jared Keeso) and Nick Barron (Adrian Holmes).

Free tickets (plus a small handling fee) for the screenings can be obtained at the Bell TIFF Lightbox box office or via the Festival website at CITV.tv.

19-2 – World Premiere
Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.
Bravo’s English adaptation of the hit Québec police drama will receive its World Premiere. MOVIE ENTERTAINMENT’s Teri Hart hosts a Q+A with Executive Producer Jocelyn Deschênes, writer Bruce Smith, and series co-star Adrian Holmes. The Festival will also screen the original French version (subtitled).

SPUN OUT – World Premiere
Saturday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.

CTV’s hilarious new half-hour scripted comedy series stars Dave Foley, Al Mukadam, Holly Deveaux, Rebecca Dalton, and Darcy Michael, all of whom are set to be on hand for the 8 p.m. premiere screenings and Q+A session hosted by ETALK’s Devon Soltendieck. Premiering in Winter 2014, SPUN OUT also stars Paul Campbell and J.P. Manoux.

Saturday also features a session with the producers and talent behind MTV’s DEGRASSI franchise, including actors Aislinn Paul, Munro Chambers, and Luke Bilyk, as well as Stefan Brogren (Director, Actor, Writer), Sarah Glinski (Executive Producer, Head Writer), and Matt Huether (Co-Executive Producer, Writer). The panel is led by AFTER DEGRASSI host, Lauren Toyota.

Canada’s first and only public television festival, the Canadian International Television Festival (CITF), presented by Bell Media and screening at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, announced their next programming event. Kim Cattrall and Don McKellar along with writer Bob Martin will be on hand Saturday, November 16 at 4:00 p.m. to discuss their new series, Sensitive Skin.

Don McKellar and Bob Martin, whose previous television projects together include Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays and Slings and Arrows, collaborate with Kim Cattrall on Sensitive Skin. The half-hour comedy series, based on the U.K. series of the same name is the story of Davina (Kim Cattrall), a woman of a certain age and her long-time husband Al (Don McKellar), who have sold their comfortable family home and moved downtown to an ultra-modern condo, in a transitional neighbourhood, in a conscious effort to change their lives, keep relevant, and begin again. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happens. Sensitive Skin is produced by Toronto-based Rhombus Media in association with The Movie Network and Movie Central and is slated to air on The Movie Network and Movie Central in 2014.

As previously announced, advance tickets for the CITF will be made available at no cost (except for a small handling charge) in early November at the TIFF Bell Lightbox box office, online at www.tiff.net or by telephone at (416) 599-8433. Rhombus Media, Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central, and Bell Media’s The Movie Network announced today that production is underway on SENSITIVE SKIN, a new series based on the acclaimed BBC program of the same name. Kim Cattrall stars in the bittersweet comedy about 50-somethings and executive produces along with co-star Don McKellar, who directs all six episodes from scripts by Bob Martin. Also announced today are additional cast members including Academy Award®-nominee Elliott Gould (M*A*S*H, FRIENDS, RAY DONOVAN), Nicolas Wright (White House Down), Gemini Award-winner Colm Feore (THE BORGIAS), Joanna Gleason (Last Vegas), Gemini Award-winner Clé Bennett (FLASHPOINT), Mary Walsh (THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES), and Marc-André Grondin (C.R.A.Z.Y.). SENSITIVE SKIN marks Cattrall’s return to television following the conclusion of her wildly successful HBO series SEX IN THE CITY. SENSITIVE SKIN shoots in Toronto for six weeks. TRICON FILMS & TELEVISION will handle international distribution of the series.
