Canadian Idol Guest Stars Revealed as Katherine St-Laurent is Eliminated

  • Bryan Adams, Tom Jones, Simple Plan and Gavin Rossdale Announced as Canadian Idol’s First Wave of Guests and Mentors as Katherine St-Laurent is Eliminated from the Competition
  • MuchMoreMusic now airing encore episodes of Canada’s favourite summertime series Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET

As Canada said goodbye to the latest competitor to be eliminated, Quebec’s Katherine St-Laurent, Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney revealed the first group of music stars who will be appearing and performing on the series throughout the rest of the season. The remaining Top 8 finalists will work with some of the world’s most accomplished artists, including Canadian icon Bryan Adams, rockers Simple Plan, the legendary Tom Jones and – in next week’s “Unplugged” episode – former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Additional guest stars will be announced as the season progresses.

Cameras Rolling on Second Season of Shaftesbury Films’ Murdoch Mysteries

Shaftesbury Films is pleased to announce that production has begun on season two of its successful one-hour drama series Murdoch Mysteries (13 X 60′). Filming runs until November 11 in Toronto and Hamilton, with days scheduled to shoot in Calgary and Vancouver. The second season of Murdoch Mysteries will air on Citytv in spring 2009.

Flashpoint Sets Sights On New Target: Summer’s Hottest Drama Moves to Thursdays at 10 p.m., Beginning July 24 on CTV

  • New time-slot follows summer ratings powerhouse So You Think You Can Dance
  • Episode 2 peaks with 927,000 viewers, wins time-slot, night and all key demos in Canada; captures 7.1 million viewers in the United States
  • Flashpoint debut episode is #2 TV download on iTunes Canada

After dominating Friday nights for the past two weeks in a row, summer’s hottest drama is moving to television’s biggest night. CTV, along with U.S. broadcast partner CBS, announced today that Flashpoint will now air in the coveted Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET time-slot beginning this Thursday, July 24 (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). The gripping new original CTV and CBS co-production about an elite Toronto police team (SRU) will now air in the prime time-slot that also features the 9 p.m. lead-in of Canada’s #1 summer series, So You Think You Can Dance. A special encore broadcast of this Thursday’s Flashpoint (Episode 3) will air Sunday, July 27 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV.
