“For me, as a woman, I am drawn to stories that have female characters at the heart of the story and all of my projects do. That’s personally what I’m most interested in and want to work on. For the character of Mary, I did want to write a really complex character who is ultimately compassionate, but she also makes really questionable decisions that we don’t always understand. I think it’s important to show female characters in a way that is not straightforward and we don’t always have to like them. Competing for a grand cash prize, each week the houseguests battle in a series of challenges that give them power or punishment, voting each other out until the fate of the final two is decided by a jury of fellow houseguests.
