The intelligent and heart-warming, half-hour comedy series “Less Than Kind” premieres Monday, October 13 at 10:30pm ET/CT/MT/PT on Citytv.

When you’re 15 life can be pretty tough, but when you’re 15 year old Sheldon Blecher (Jesse Camacho, 12 and Holding), an overweight-virgin growing up in Winnipeg – life just plain sucks! An unlikely leader, Sheldon serves as the only sane adult in a family of children including his self-destructive driving-instructor father, Sam (Maury Chaykin, Entourage), his pyromaniac mother, Anne (Wendel Meldrum, Seinfeld), his failed-actor brother, Josh (Benjamin Arthur, The L Word) and his free-spirited, promiscuous Aunt Clara (Nancy Sorel, Down the Shore). With a wisdom beyond his years Sheldon manages hold it all together as the family business, Belcher’s Driving School, is on its way down the tubes and his handsome and egotistical brother moves back into the family home – right into Sheldon’s room! This sharp and humorous series proves that while you’re obliged to love your family, you don’t have to be nice about it!

Filmed entirely in the sub-zero temperatures of Winnipeg’s winter, “Less Than Kind”, is a refreshingly Canadian series that simultaneously pokes fun at and celebrates one of the most cultural locals in the country. A tale of a little boy and his bear may have helped put them on the map, but “Less Than Kind” is sure to solidify Winnipeg’s position as a bona fide comedy destination.

“Less Than Kind” is the first series written and co-executive produced by Marvin Kaye and Chris Sheasgreen who created the series based on Kaye’s one-act play, They Have Mayonnaise in Montreal. The series show runner is Mark McKinney (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Slings and Arrows, Kids in the Hall). “Less Than Kind” is executive produced by Peter Williamson and Ira Levy for Breakthrough Films & Television and Phyllis Laing for Buffalo Gal Pictures.
