Heroic Film Company announced today that it has secured the green light for live-action tween comedy series, Connor Undercover. Astral Media’s Family Channel (Canada) has commissioned 13 half-hour episodes of the program, which is being co-produced with Shaftesbury Films. Scheduled to air on Family Channel in 2010, the series is currently in production. Connor Undercover made its MIPCOM debut as a multi-platform project with interactive content to support the show developed by Heroic Film Company Partner, Karen Lee Hall. Additionally, each episode will feature one original song with a corresponding music video showcasing cast member Jordan Francis.

“We’re thrilled to see our company gaining such momentum,” said John May, Partner, Heroic Film Company. “We are also delighted to be working on Connor Undercover with our friends at Shaftesbury and Family Channel.”

“With the talented teams at Shaftesbury and Heroic Film Company onboard, we’re certain this will be a unique and successful series,” said Kevin Wright, Senior Vice President, Programming, Astral Television Networks. “Action-packed and fun-filled Connor Undercover, with its blend of adventure, intrigue and comedy, will be an exciting addition to the Family schedule.”

“Shaftesbury has wanted to work on another project with John May, Suzanne Bolch and their team for a while now. Connor Undercover is already positioned to be a lot of fun for Family Channel’s audience,” said Christina Jennings, Chairman & CEO of Shaftesbury Films.

A unique blend of action and comedy, Connor Undercover is an original program created by John May and Suzanne Bolch of Heroic Film Company. The series stars Max Morrow as Connor (The Russell Girl, St. Urbain’s Horsemen), newcomer Lola Tash as Gisela and Jordan Francis (Camp Rock) as Dave “Whynot” Whynott, Connor’s best friend and band front-man.

The series follows 15-year-old Connor Heath the world’s biggest spy buff who saw his life kick into overdrive the day Gisela Calicos, firebrand first daughter of a small island nation, showed up to live with his family. Even though she was sent away to escape dangers back home, intrigue and mystery have followed her. So now, afternoons packed with action, bodyguards, spies, moles, helicopters and chase scenes aren’t just part of Connor’s favorite movies, they’re part of his life.

Meanwhile, Gisela is being asked to live like an average teenager, make new friends and deal with the loss of her closet space. Somewhere between sports rallies and homework assignments, these two kids must scheme to figure out the mystery that’s taken over their lives, providing they can figure out how to get along first.
