From a media release:

DEGRASSI Returns To Heat Up the Summer, Telenovela Style, with an All-New Season, Premiering July 18 on MuchMusic

  • DEGRASSI returns for Season 11 with seven weeks of daily telenovela-style episodes
  • TV event kicks off with an hour-long special guest starring Keke Palmer, Monday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET

Coming off the success of last summer’s groundbreaking telenovela-style format, DEGRASSI returns to MuchMusic for Season 11 with seven straight drama-filled weeks, beginning Monday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET. Building on last year’s record-breaking six-week run, Much unveils an additional telenovela week this Summer, and kicks off a new season of the Peabody Award-winning series with an hour-long special guest starring Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee, TRUE JACKSON, VP) as herself. New episodes of DEGRASSI air weeknights, Monday-Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, through Thursday, September 1 on Much, MuchHD, and MuchMusic.com.

In the hour-long special and Season 11 premiere, all the students at Degrassi are abuzz about THE Spring Break event – Keke Palmer’s concert. Newly single Sav is depressed post-Holly-J break-up, but a flirtatious encounter with a beautiful stranger perks him up when she tells him to meet her at the show. Though Drew’s mom is keeping him on a short leash, he and Bianca are growing closer until her ex-boyfriend Anson comes back into the picture. Meanwhile, Fiona meets a gorgeous figure model at Holly J’s art class.

Season 11 of DEGRASSI introduces three new characters and tackles issues that are relevant to today’s teens including gang violence, drug abuse, bullying, gender identity, sexuality, teen parenthood, and romance. As the school year draws to a close and the senior class prepares to graduate and move on, everyone realizes they’ll only be in high school once so it’s now or never.

When someone’s past catches up with another’s present, the lethal consequences reverberate throughout the school. With new faces joining the student body, new and forbidden love triangles are formed and thought-provoking character revelations develop. As senior students prepare for graduation and prom, a bitter race for a new Student Council President develops and an illicit relationship blossoms on campus.

DEGRASSI was MuchMusic’s #1 summer series in 2009/10 with P12-34 viewers. Over the course of Season 10, 2.8 million unique viewers tuned into DEGRASSI. Among the P12-34 demo, 1.3 million unique viewers tuned in, translating into 12.2% of the P12-34 population watching some part of the season.

Also launching this Summer, Degrassi, the game – a new, interactive mobile application that will be available for download soon. More details to be announced shortly.

  1. So it won’t be moving to A/two until September but it starts out on Much in July? Yeah, that is not confusing at all. What is even more sad is that i get neither MuchHD nor A/twoHD thanks to not having Bell as my service provider and living where there is no A (i have Access, and it is the AB public tv channel so it won’t be made in to a CTV two station and probably not switched to HD either). This just is no fun at all. Ida makes a movie and Jessica can’t watch it in HD. ;) :(

  2. I don’t know if Degrassi realy move to Two (sounds weird) in september, maybe it’s just daily repeats.
