CTV announced today that Kristin Lehman, hot off the heels of her role in THE KILLING, has been cast as the lead of CTV’s crime drama MOTIVE. Additional principal casting has also been completed and production begins today, September 17 in Vancouver. From acclaimed executive producer Daniel Cerone (THE MENTALIST, DEXTER), CTV’s new original series will star Lehman (THE KILLING, The Sentinel) as the drama’s feisty lead detective Angie Flynn, a detective on a backwards chase for clues to a killer that has already been revealed to viewers. This cat-and-mouse series with a twist on the everyday whodunit, will also star Gemini Award-winning actor Louis Ferreira (DURHAM COUNTY, SGU STARGATE UNIVERSE, SAW IV), Brendan Penny (WHISTLER, STARGATE: ATLANTIS), and Lauren Holly (NCIS). MOTIVE is produced by Vancouver-based Foundation Features and Lark Productions, with 13 episodes of the one-hour drama set to air early 2013 on CTV and be internationally distributed by NBC Universal International.

No stranger to the dark and adrenaline-pumping world of crime dramas, series lead Kristin Lehman joins the cast of MOTIVE, fresh off the heels of a co-starring role in the critically-acclaimed crime drama THE KILLING. Born in Toronto and raised in Vancouver, Lehman trained in classical ballet at the Canadian Royal Academy of Dance before establishing her career in television. In addition to many other breakout and defining roles, Lehman has starred in POLTERGEIST: THE LEGACY, FELICITY, THE OUTER LIMITS, JUDGING AMY, G-SPOT, and DRIVE. Her guest role on ANDROMEDA earned her a Gemini nomination and was an early springboard for memorable guest spots on PRISON BREAK, CASTLE and THE LISTENER.

Rounding out the MOTIVE principal cast is; Gemini Award-winning actor Louis Ferreira (DURHAM COUNTY, SGU STARGATE UNIVERSE, SAW IV) as Angie’s partner, Detective Oscar Vega, Brendan Penny (WHISTLER, STARGATE: ATLANTIS) as Detective Brian Lucas and Lauren Holly (NCIS, CHICAGO HOPE, PICKET FENCES) as the brash and sexy Dr. Betty Pryce. The vastly accomplished actress lends her talents to the role as the medical examiner that positions her as an ally to Angie in the male-dominated field of law enforcement as she works closely with Detective Flynn and the team on their murder cases.

MOTIVE will also feature guest stars throughout the series. In the series pilot, singer-songwriter and former New Kids On The Block Joey McIntyre has been cast as a guest star.

MOTIVE is an unconventional way to watch a crime unfold. Each episode begins by revealing to the audience, not only the victim, but the killer as well. The homicide detective then begins to piece together clues. How did they do it? How are the victim and killer connected? What’s the motive? As the mystery unfolds, the audience navigates the twisted and complicated maze of each murder and solves the puzzle alongside detective Angie Flynn and her team.

MOTIVE is developed for television by award winning producer Rob Merilees (Sleepwalking, Stone of Destiny), Rob LaBelle (MENTAL), Lindsay Macadam (The Entitled, Personal Effects), Emmy®-nominated producer Louise Clark (CORNER GAS, WHISTLER, THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER), and Erin Haskett (THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER).

MOTIVE is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media and will be distributed internationally by NBCUniversal International.
