New tonight: Wipeout Canada on TVTropolis – “Hot Cop & The Fuzz”

Wipeout Canada brings viewers an all-new episode featuring some of Canada’s craziest contestants. Laying it all out on the obstacle course, they have the chance to go home with the $50,000 grand prize and the coveted title of “Wipeout Canada Champion.” This week’s contestants include a cougar-in-training from Vancouver, a worm-lover from Newmarket and a Professional Falconer from Prince George, BC. The hosts, Jonathan Torrens and Ennis Esmer offer their laugh-out-loud commentary as they watch contestants tackle the big red balls, dizzy dummy, sucker punch wall and the wipeout zone. Jessica Phillips reports direct from the course as she deciphers the contestants unique skills.

Transporter series – a new coproduction with Movie Network/Movie Central

Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) today announced their participation in the 12-part action series Transporter-The Series. Based on the high-octane Transporter films, the series is an international co-production between The Movie Network and Movie Central, Canada’s QVF Inc., M6 and Atlantique Productions in France, Germany’s RTL Group and HBO/Cinemax in the U.S.

Based on the popular film franchise of the same name created by Luc Besson, this fast-paced series follows the adventures of professional transporter Frank Martin (Chris Vance), who can always be counted on to get the job done. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Frank plays by three rules: never change the deal, no names and never open the package. Occasionally, complications arise and rules get broken. Good thing Frank can improvise. The series will premiere on HBO Canada in 2012.

Transporter-The Series is a France/Canada co-production produced by Atlantique Productions SA (Klaus Zimmermann) and QVF Inc. (Susan Murdoch). Executive producers are Luc Besson, Alexander Ruemelin, Fred Fuchs, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.

Debra! premieres June 4 on Family Channel

Bubbly, ambitious and always ready with a plan, Debra DeLong has her sights set on making the world a better place in the new Family Channel series DEBRA! premiering Saturday, June 4 at 4 p.m. ET/PT. The live-action series features a passionate young girl with a positive outlook who’s instigating a change in the lives of her friends, whether they’re ready for it or not. The first live-action series from Canadian producer Cookie Jar Entertainment, DEBRA! is the third Family Channel original series to debut this year.

DEBRA! follows a very special girl named Debra Carnegie Cameron DeLong (Niamh Wilson), who is on a mission to improve the world using her future business, Big Soaring Pony. An effervescent teen juggernaut who never thinks small, Debra applies her big imagination to improving her school, her community and her friends’ lives. With her energy and her friend Preston’s (Will Jester) talent, and often bewildered support, she sets out to bring back a stronger sense of community to the city of Camfield.

In the series premiere episode titled “Introducing Debra,” airing Saturday, June 4 at 4 p.m. ET/PT, irrepressible Debra DeLong transfers to Camfield High. She persuades her new friend, Preston Lunford, to compete in the talent show to get back at her long-time rival, Dancy Cologne. In the second episode, airing Sunday, June 5 at 4 p.m. ET/PT, Debra helps a hard-working senior graduate by training him to meet the only requirement he’s missing, an early-morning wrestling credit. New episodes of DEBRA! continue to air Sundays at 4 p.m. ET/PT on Family following the premiere.

DEBRA! is executive produced and written by Andrew Nicholls and Darrell Vickers (Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) and marks Cookie Jar Entertainment’s first live-action series for Family Channel. Stacey Curtis (Naturally, Sadie, The Best Years) serves as co-executive producer and Kevin May (The Latest Buzz, Naturally, Sadie) is producer.

Ratings: The Kennedys averaged 700,000 viewers on History

RATINGS SOAR FOR THE KENNEDYS ON HISTORY TELEVISION

  • Over One Million Viewers Tune into Premiere

With the final numbers in, History Television is thrilled to announce that the debut run of The Kennedys delivered record-breaking viewership for the channel. The confirmed data shows that the four-part movie event averaged over 700,000 viewers (2+) and close to 300,000 (A25-54) for its 9 pm play on the channel. The premiere episode also delivered a whopping 1,058,000 viewers (2+) and over 400,000 (A25-54).

The channel’s hugely successful first foray into dramatic entertainment became the second highest-rated series premiere of all-time on History Television (2+), behind Ice Road Truckers: Deadliest Roads, which earned over 1.1 million viewers on January 12, 2011. The series also becomes the highest-rated movie or special presentation on the channel.

Viewers have the chance to see the most anticipated miniseries of the year when The Kennedys premieres on Global Monday, July 4 at 9 pm ET/PT.
