A fan-favourite from season one, international figure skating superstar Katarina Witt returns to BATTLE OF THE BLADES’ judging panel as Guest Judge along with Head Judge Sandra Bezic and Resident Judge Jeremy Roenick. Viewers will enjoy Witt’s candid remarks as the five remaining pairs compete as characters in full costume for this week’s Hallowe’en theme live on Sunday, October 30 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) and on Monday, October 31 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).

Third pair iced on Battle of the Blades

From a media release:

ANABELLE LANGLOIS AND BRAD MAY SKATE-OFF AGAINST TWO OTHER PAIRS AND ARE THE THIRD “ICED” PAIR ON BATTLE OF THE BLADES

  • Violetta Afanasieva and Cale Hulse and Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn return for another week

BOTB - Week 5 - Oct 24 - Ep 10 - Anabelle Brad

For the first time on BATTLE ON THE BLADES, the bottom three pairs competed in the weekly “skate-off” because 4th and 5th place were only .03 per cent apart. After combining the judges’ scores and fans’ votes, a national audit firm and recommended that it was only fair that all three pairs with the lowest marks compete in tonight’s elimination episode. This meant that Anabelle Langlois and Brad May skated for their survival against two pairs – Violetta Afanasieva and Cale Hulse and Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn. Unlike last week when the judges stepped in to use their first and only save of the season to keep Anabelle and Brad in this competition, this pair have become the third “iced” pair on the third season of this live competitive TV series. Autism Speaks will receive a $25,000 donation in Anabelle and Brad’s honour.

One of the toughest NHL hockey players and Stanley Cup winner Chris “Knuckles” Nilan provided his insightful commentary on each pair’s performance as Guest Judge along with remarks from Head Judge Sandra Bezic and Resident Judge Jeremy Roenick this week on BATTLE OF THE BLADES.

Broadcast from the MasterCard Centre on Sunday, October 30 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC, the six pairs returning to compete on the ice are: Violetta Afanasieva and Cale Hulse; Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux; Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn; Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier and Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard. The next dramatic, half-hour “skate-off” results show is on Monday, October 31 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).

The judging panel, made up of Nilan as Guest Judge, Sandra Bezic as Head Judge and Jeremy Roenick returning after a two week absence as Resident Judge, has no “saves” left to protect the pairs who will skate for their survival on this competitive live TV series on Sunday, October 23 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) and on Monday, October 24 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
