CBC-TV’S HEARTLAND BUSTS OUT OF THE CHUTE TO RAISE $11,700 FOR ACTORS’ FUND OF CANADA IN 2008 TV CHARITY CHALLENGE

The cast and crew of CBC-TV’s Heartland have made their mark as the first entrants in the 2008 Canadian TV Charity Challenge raising $11,700 for the Actors’ Fund of Canada in a fundraising barbeque held on October 5. Three hundred and fifty members of the Calgary film & TV production community and their families attended the barbeque at the Heartland Ranch location, which featured a silent auction and other fundraising events.

  “There was much anxiety in cyberspace this past February, when the CBC family series Heartland ended its first season with a cliffhanger that left its legions of slavishly loyal fans in the lurch. The biggest point of consternation, it seems, was the prospect that the show’s dreamily brooding stable boy, Ty, had left the Heartland ranch for good, even after sealing a romantic liaison with our teen heroine Amy Fleming with a kiss.” Read more.
