Ratings: Rookie Blue returns with 1.4 million viewers

Last night, Global’s smash hit original drama Rookie Blue proved it’s still packing heat as the second season premiere booked 1.4 million viewers (2+, national). Winning its time-slot nationally and in the key Adults 18-49 demo, the highly-anticipated debut delivered a solid performance as the #1 drama program of the night.

Next week on Rookie Blue (“Might Have Been” – Thursday, June 30 at 10pm ET/PT), Andy and Gail go undercover as waitresses at a club known for frequent drug use, but get more than they bargained for when their fellow waitress turns out to be involved with a vicious criminal. Meanwhile, Traci wrestles with feelings for her old flame, Detective Barber; Dov tries to weather the storm when a young woman files a complaint against him; and Andy opens up to Sam about her commitment to Luke. Joris Jarsky (Cra$h and Burn), Alan Van Sprang (King) and Polly Shannon (Lie With Me) guest star.

Combat Hospital hits 2 million viewers

  • Series Premiere Won the Night Nationally

Global’s Combat Hospital pulled rank with 2 million viewers (2+, national) on Tuesday, establishing itself as Canada’s #1 original drama of the year. The series debut of the Shaw Media-commissioned series was the second highest-rated premiere of any Canadian drama in over a decade, next to Global’s Rookie Blue.

Winning the night nationally, the series premiere outperformed its closest competitors, America’s Got Talent (Citytv) and The Voice (CTV), each by 27%.

Combat Hospital is a hit with viewers and with TV critics as well. Early praise for the medical drama includes: “A compelling peek at a world we all should know more about” (Sun Media); “A fictional, eye-opening look at the real-world medical heroes working the front lines of Afghanistan” (Postmedia News); and “…solid television” (The Globe and Mail).
