  • Production year promises to be busy
    “One of the biggest projects heading to Vancouver this year is the new sci-fi TV series Defying Gravity, an international co-production to air on Canada’s CTV and Space channels, as well as BBC in the U.K. and other European broadcasters. Vancouver’s Omni Film Productions is taking a lead role in the production with a multimillion-dollar spaceship set built in Burnaby.” Read more.

Sanctuary season finale airs Jan. 9

SANCTUARY – SEASON FINALE

Premieres Friday, January 9 at 9 p.m. on The Movie Network (7:30 p.m. PT on Movie Central)

In the season finale, “The Five”, led by Dr. Magnus, attempt to find the secret labyrinth in the decimated city of Bhalasaam. Once located, they must complete a series of cryptic tests that can only be achieved using the powers of The Five. Ashley and Henry are held prisoner at the Cabal’s weapons facility. Starring Amanda Tapping, Emilie Ullerup and Ryan Robbins.

    “It has become second nature for television producers and networks to use the Internet as a marketing tool – a way to promote their schedules, offer after-broadcast downloads, create online fan communities. But a new Canadian science-fiction series is moving the other way: After originating on the Web, Sanctuary is making the leap from desktop to small screen, premiering on television with a two-hour episode (tonight).” Read more.
