Ron James sets Twitter record

From a media release:

COMEDIAN RON JAMES SETS SINGLE DAY WORLD RECORD ON TWITTER

On Wednesday, December 15th, comedian Ron James, star of CBC Television’s The Ron James Show, set the world record for the most tweets in a single day by an individual. Ron posted an astounding 520 tweets between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., exceeding his original goal of 500 – a voracious number of tweets that have left his thumbs battered and bruised. Do the math – that’s nearly one message every 90 seconds in a 16 hour period!

Ron, a self-admitted technophobe, was accompanied by a crack squad of techno geeks who supported him in his quest for Twitter world domination. It was a day filled with twitter mayhem as Ron included the online world in everything from his morning shower, to picking up a Starbucks on the way to playing shinny, to Christmas shopping at his own peril, to hitting the office, dinner at Veritas restaurant, and ultimately ending his record breaking day by enjoying the iconic film “A Christmas Story” before signing off for the night.

Ron is the award-winning and celebrated comedian whose talents are showcased as the star of the weekly series, The Ron James Show, anchored by James’ hilarious and razor-sharp stand-up comedy. Be sure to tune in for Ron’s fifth annual New Year’s Eve Edition special on December 31 at 9:00 p.m. (9:30 NT).

In the spirit of the holiday season, Ron will be donating 1845 non-perishable food items to Food Banks Canada, corresponding with every mention of the official hashtag #RonJames and social sharing actions on both Twitter and Facebook. “In just one day Ron has made a valuable contribution, by providing much-needed food, and by informing thousands of Canadians about the work of food banks,” said Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director of Food Banks Canada.
