The Movie Network and Movie Central commission cutting-edge new original drama series Sanctuary

From a media release:

Astral Media’s The Movie Network (eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (western Canada) have commissioned 13-episodes of one of the first television series ever to be conceived from an Internet-based concept. Initially developed as eight broadcast-quality webisodes from the creative talent behind Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, Sanctuary is an original drama series that is also the first to be shot entirely on green screen.

Commissioned by and airing on The Movie Network and Movie Central, the series has also been green lit by the SCI FI Channel in the U.S. which will broadcast the series day and date with the Canadian broadcasters in fall 2008.

    “Sci Fi Channel has greenlighted “Sanctuary,” the first television series to use live-action actors against virtual sets in the style of the features “300” and “Sin City.” Sci Fi has ordered a full 13-episode season of the new scripted drama series, which originated online as the first high-definition sci-fi Web series.” Read more.

Taste Buds Starts Production on its Delicious First Season

Executive producers of This is Daniel Cook and This is Emily Yeung, marblemedia, today announced that production has begun on an exciting new food adventure series for children entitled Taste Buds. Produced in association with TVO, the show will debut air this fall on TVOKids after school block in addition to Knowledge Network, Access Alberta and SCN.

Created by marblemedia partners Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg Taste Buds is a hands-on television and interactive experience that invites kids to be part of the entire process of food preparation – shopping, cooking, eating and even cleaning up.
