  “Ten minutes is a year’s worth of information. You can’t buy these experiences. You don’t just walk into places and there’s Brian (May) and there’s Roger (Taylor),” said Tara Oram after singing for the two members of Queen on the Canon Theatre stage earlier this week.

Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor performed live at Toronto’s Canon Theatre last night as the special guests for next week’s “We Will Rock You” themed episodes on Canadian Idol. The pair was joined on the stage of the hit musical by the Top 7 Canadian Idol competitors as well as the entire cast of “We Will Rock You” for the show-stopping encore.

The blistering performance came after a day of workshops which saw May and Taylor mentor each of the seven remaining Canadian Idol finalists in advance of next Monday’s performance episode, airing August 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

Toronto’s Martha Joy is the next singer to be eliminated from Canadian Idol, leaving five males and two females in the competition. The 16-year-old student received the fewest votes following her performance of “True Colors” during Monday’s “Unplugged” show, which was the most-watched Top 10 episode this season with over 1.55 million total viewers. Over 2.8 million votes were recorded Monday, up more than 10 per cent compared to the same episode last year.
