Blueprint Entertainment announces start of principal photography for new original series ‘Love You To Death’
Starring John Waters as the ‘Groom Reaper’
Coming to Global Television in spring 2007
Blueprint Entertainment Co-President John Morayniss today announced the start of principal photography on the new, edgy 13-part half-hour episodic original series Love You To Death, starring John Waters in his first television role as the ‘Groom Reaper’. Produced by Blueprint Entertainment in association with Global Television and Court TV,
Love You To Death is being shot in Toronto through January 29, 2007.
Love You To Death provides a unique perspective, with each half-hour episode dramatizing stories inspired by true crimes of happily married couples whose once wedded bliss ends in murder. As the ‘Groom Reaper’, Waters (Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, Cry Baby) guides the viewers through these bizarre tales and incredible cases.
“We’re thrilled to have John Waters in this series. He brings a great presence and wry sense of humour to the role of the ‘Groom Reaper’,” says executive producer and show runner Ken Hanes.
Added John Waters, “I had always hoped to humorously hijack the career of Vincent Price, and the role of the ‘Groom Reaper’ gives me a chance to do so. Since I’ve never been much of a fan of weddings, these unbelievably bizarre and sometimes gruesomely funny stories makes me feel right at home as an actor.”
The series is scheduled to make its debut in Spring 2007 on Global Television in Canada and in the U.S. on Court TV (as ‘Til Death Do Us Part).
“Love You To Death’s provocative, yet humorous storytelling embodies the very essence of the smart and sophisticated programming we strive to deliver to our viewers each and every time,” said Christine Shipton, Vice President, Original Programming, Global Television. “This series was tailor made for John Waters, and we couldn’t be more pleased that he has taken on this project as his first television role.”
Along with Ken Hanes, Ira Pincus, John Morayniss, Noreen Halpern and Jeff Lieberman are on as executive producers. Writers include Ken Hanes, Mary Hanes, Scott Nimerfro, Eric Charmelo, Nicole Snyder and James Ireland. The series was created by Jeff Lieberman.
Joining the production team is Producer Kevin Lafferty, Director of Photography Yuri Yakubiw, Art Director Bill Layton, Costume Designer Jenifur Jarvis and Editors Michael G. Todd and Ben Wilkinson.
