In the news: Robson Arms returns

From Dana Gee of the Vancouver Province:

  • New slot lets us heed call to Arms: Better scheduling bodes well for quirky comedy
“I think we’ve taken a huge leap forward,” says [creator Susin] Nielsen. “I was really proud of Season 1, but this season is even better. You know the characters better. The actors know the characters better. It has all come together.”
  • Stars come out to play for show’s new season
“Others in guest spots include the likes of SCTV alum Joe Flaherty, musicians Jann Arden and Colin James, Corner Gas star Nancy Robertson, former MP Svend Robinson and Patrick McKenna of Red Green fame. Even local media types, like Terry David Mulligan and the daytime talk-show duo of Fiona Forbes and Michael Eckford, get a bit of camera time.”

From Now Magazine:

  • Neilsen rates (see 3rd item)
“Leslie Nielsen moves into the Robson Arms apartment complex for its second season.”

In the news: Canadian spin-offs ’shameful’

From The Gateway (the student newspaper of the University of Alberta):

  • Deal me out, Canada
We need to stop trying to keep up with the Jones’ in regards to television. Canadian entertainment industries may not have the capital to produce first-rate shows, but re-branding American atrocities to give “the little guy,” a chance to strike it rich or gain national fame for six months isn’t something we should be proud of.”
