No more coulda, woulda, shoulda. It’s time to ditch the excuses, get past procrastination and tackle a life changing opportunity – “Think NOW!â€. That is the message from Phil Keoghan – host of the Emmy award-winning “The Amazing Raceâ€â„¢ and creator of the critically acclaimed US and New Zealand series and best-selling book No Opportunity Wasted. This fall, “No Opportunity Wasted†comes to CBC Television as a 10 x 30′ Canadian-produced reality series that gives challengers 72-hours to step outside their comfort zone, face their fears and swerve off the road they have been on for years. From May 8-16, Phil Keoghan travels on an eight-city tour (see detailed schedule below) in search of Canadians willing to take on a N.O.W. challenge. “No Opportunity Wasted†premieres on CBC in October 2007 and is produced by NOW Canada Productions Inc., a Suddenly SeeMore Productions Company.
“It is very exciting to be able to bring this series to Canada,†says Phil Keoghan. “Each challenger goes through a dramatic life changing experience and the show is a huge motivator for the television audience too. It really gets people thinking about what they want to achieve in their own lives. NOW is infectious.â€
In each half-hour episode, two challengers, who do not know they have been chosen, will be surprised by the host and asked to take on a “No Opportunity Wasted†challenge. N.O.W. counters all their excuses – clearing their schedules with boss, family and friends. The two challengers, total strangers with a common goal, must then work step-by-step to complete a series of time targets that will push them to the extreme and help them complete their challenge.
Watch what happens when the victim of a vicious underwater attack returns to the ocean to swim with wild sharks or how one person can create a dramatic change for a community burdened by a tragedy. Canadians who want to overcome their own fears or help their community achieve something exemplary can apply to be on the series by visiting www.noopportunitywasted.ca. Applicants must be at least 18-years-old, be a Canadian resident and hold a valid Canadian passport.
“No Opportunity Wasted†is a philosophy Phil Keoghan has lived by since a near-death experience after scuba diving in an underwater shipwreck, in his native New Zealand, at the age of 19. After being given a second chance, Phil decided to live each day as if it were his last by creating a list of the things to do before he died. For more than 20 years, he has lived out his list in front of a television camera and he is now challenging others to do the same.
