CTV Spins Off Canadian Idol Into Companion Series All Access, Premiering July 20 on

As 10 finalists from across the country prepare for tonight’s first Canadian Idol Top 10 elimination episode, CTV announced today a weekly spin-off series from the hit show. One of the only Idol broadband programs in the world, Canadian Idol: All Access delivers a third night of Idol programming that takes viewers behind the scenes of Canada’s most-watched summer program. The nine-episode series – a first for North America – premieres Friday, July 20 when it becomes available on demand on The CTV Broadband Network at Beginning July 26, Canadian Idol: All Access will become available Thursdays at 4 p.m. ET.

Hosted by Canadian Idol reporter Dave Kerr, Canadian Idol: All Access is an extra night of Idol programming that sums up each week’s events by giving viewers unprecedented access to what happens beyond the television screen. All Access will focus on content that Canadian Idol doesn’t provide, with cameras recording the action before, during and after each performance and results shows. All Access promises to not only cover the excitement and energy of Canadian Idol, but to contribute to it as well.

Not only does it invite our audience to peek behind-the scenes on one of Canada’s top TV shows, but it really lets fans connect with the competitors and their intense, roller-coaster journey through the Top 10.”

Each week, All Access will feature the post-show journey that each competitor takes immediately after they are eliminated; a panel of pundits deliberating the week’s water cooler moments; and a hint at what the remaining competitors are working on for the following week.
