From a media release:
Nine remain in the race for the Canadian Idol title as Hamilton’s Adam Castelli was revealed tonight as receiving the fewest number of votes this week. The Top 9 finalists now begin preparing for the next round of the competition when they pay homage to some of their favourite departed musicians during Rock and Roll Heaven week on Monday, July 21 at the new time of 9 p.m. ET on CTV (go to idol.CTV.ca to confirm local listings).
Then, on Tuesday, July 22 at 8 p.m. ET during the Top 9 results show, Season 5 runner-up and fan favourite Jaydee Bixby returns home to Canadian Idol for a special performance.
The Top 9 returning to the Canadian Idol stage to perform for viewer
votes on Monday are:
- Mark Day, 20, Portugal Cove-St. Philips, NL, Student, Respite Care Worker
- Mitch MacDonald, 22, Port Hood, NS, Carpenter, Musician
- Mookie Morris, 18, Toronto, Musician
- Sebastian Pigott, 25, Toronto, Actor, Writer
- Earl Stevenson, 23, Lloydminster, AB, Swamper for a Backhoe Operator
- Katherine St-Laurent, 17, Otterburn Park, QC, Student
- Theo Tams, 23, Lethbridge, AB, Student
- Amberly Thiessen, 19, Seven Persons, AB, Student
- Drew Wright, 28, Collingwood, ON, Musician, House Painter
Did Adam deserve to go home? Probably not. Did Mookie deserve to be in the bottom 3? Definitely not. Already 3 of 5 talented Torontonians have gone home due to lack of interest from their fellow citizens. As two of the judges said last night, Toronto needs to VOTE! Come on Toronto, show the rest of the country that we too have talent!!
