Shaftesbury Films and Astral Media’s Family Channel are thrilled to announce that the highly successful comedy series Life with Derek is back with the TV-movie Vacation with Derek. Directed by award-winner Michael McGowan (One Week, Saint Ralph), the TV-movie will have Ashley Leggat and Michael Seater reprising their roles as the rival step-siblings and will be joined by former cast mates Daniel Magder, Jordan Todosey, Ariel Waller, Joy Tanner and John Ralston. The TV-movie production runs September 14, 2009, through until October 7, 2009, and will shoot on location in Northern Ontario. Commissioned by Family Channel, Vacation with Derek will air in 2010.
So You Think You Can Dance Canada season one winner Nico Archambault will guest star as ‘Jesse’, the dance instructor at the lodge where the McDonald-Venturi’s take their vacation. Nico has also signed on to be the choreographer for the television movie. Also guest starring as ‘Felicia’, Casey’s Grandmother, is award-winning actress Kate Trotter (Murdoch Mysteries, The Jane Show).
Vacation with Derek, starring Ashley Leggat and Michael Seater, is based on the internationally successful comedy series Life with Derek. The TV-movie will follow the McDonald-Venturi family as the children are forced to spend part of their summer vacation with their grandmother at her senior’s lodge.
Vacation with Derek is produced by Shaftesbury Films. Executive Producers are Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, and Daphne Ballon. Producers are Suzanne French and Stephen Montgomery, with Shaftesbury Films’ Laura Harbin and Peter Meyboom serving as Supervising Producers. Created by Daphne Ballon, and commissioned by The Family Channel (Canada), the TV-movie is distributed internationally by Shaftesbury Sales Company. Life with Derek: The Complete Second Season (KOCH Entertainment) is now available on DVD in retail outlets across Canada.

I love the show life with derek so i am sure the movie will be great. what i would love to see is them make a new series about life with derek but call it life with derek in University since thats where they left off in the show

ohhh i really hope the movie is great, im sure it will be. because life with derek is my favourite show and i luv michael seater! and i wish they continue the show after the movie, but maybe call it life with edwin because edwin will be in highschool. and show bits of casey and derek, as they did with lizze and edwin when it was life with derek…..
O M G I am so in love with Michael Seater. I can’t wait for this movie it will be so great. Michael Seater could do anything and i would watch it. I wish him the best of luck, and hope he becomes really famous and i can watch him in all types of movies. Hes such a good actor! <3
When will the movie be aired? In January? I heard they are continuing the show, they are doing the 5th season. The first episode of the fifth season is called “The Baby”. They said it would air January 1, 2010, but i think i missed the episode. Does anyone know where i could watch that episode.

As a background extra on the shoot in September the Producers said the TVMovie will release around March Break 2010. I have asked for a specific date as to release so waiting for the response. It was a cool shoot and Ashley can really dance big time.
I was just starting to get back into the show now that its really getting good and I realized its been canceled :(
