Canwest Broadcasting announces the pick-up of Haven, E1 Entertainment’s much-anticipated drama series, co-commissioned with Syfy. Emily Rose (Jericho, Brothers and Sisters, ER), Lucas Bryant (Queer as Folk, Dollhouse), and Eric Balfour (24, Six Feet Under) have been cast in the series, based on the novella The Colorado Kid from legendary author Stephen King. The one hour, 13-episode series is set to premiere this summer on Showcase.
Haven centers on the small town of Haven, Maine, where FBI agent Audrey (Emily Rose) discovers that the curious enclave is a longtime refuge for people with supernatural afflictions. As the townspeople’s dormant abilities begin to express themselves, Audrey helps keep these forces at bay while discovering the many secrets of Haven – including one surrounding her own surprising past in this extraordinary place.
Production on Haven is scheduled to begin this Spring 2010.
Haven is developed and produced by E1 Entertainment in association with Pillar, Segan Shepherd. It has been co-commissioned by Canwest with the Syfy Channel in the United States. International distribution is handled by E1. The impressive creative team behind Haven includes showrunner Scott Shepherd (Tru Calling, The Dead Zone) who is joined by E1 Entertainment’s John Morayniss (Hung, Copper) Noreen Halpern (Hung, Copper), Laszlo Barna (The Bridge) and Michael Rosenberg (Hung, The Riches) as well as Shepherd’s partners, Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller (The Dead Zone, Wildfire, Greek). The pilot is written by Sam Ernst (Shrek the Third, The Dead Zone) and Jim Dunn (Shrek the Third, The Dead Zone) who will also serve as executive producers on the series.
