From a media release – note the change of premiere date from the original announcement:
REPUBLIC OF DOYLE
- Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. on CBC Television
- Beginning January 12
Rumrunners and drug dealers, gorgeous girls with amnesia or stolen chip trucks, racehorses or fiancées – there’s always something intriguing going on in the Republic. Private Eye Jake Doyle returns for a raucous second season of CBC’s REPUBLIC OF DOYLE, solving cases, dodging punches and chasing criminals through the hilly, colourful streets of seaside St. John’s.
Season One of REPUBLIC OF DOYLE saw Jake proving himself to be a top-notch, gut instinct, rogue kind of a P.I. Season Two continues to deliver and entertain with killer cases from uncommon clients -– complete with all the laughs, fistfights, car chases, lager and family skirmishes that viewers have come to expect from any episode of this one-of-a-kind series.
So what lies ahead for the Doyles as they all face Mal’s mortality? Will Christian return and better yet, what will happen if he does? Can Jake clear him? And are Jake and Leslie really over? Is “The One†for Jake gone for good?
REPUBLIC OF DOYLE stars Allan Hawco as the charming and irreverent detective who struggles daily to navigate the complications of running the family P.I. business while keeping his very tangly private life in check.
Also returning to the Republic are the people that Jake can’t live with — or without: colleague (and defacto stepmother) Rose Miller (Lynda Boyd); vandal turned P.I. apprentice Des Courtney (Mark O’Brien); and enterprising niece Tinny (Marthe Bernard).
But the return of one Doyle remains uncertain. After a couple of massive back-to-back heart attacks and emergency surgery, what has become of Malachy Doyle (Sean McGinley)…and how are the Doyles moving forward?
