CANADIAN HIT SERIES ROOKIE BLUE RENEWED FOR SEASON 3 ON GLOBAL AND ABC
- Production to Begin this Summer in Toronto
Based on the success of Rookie Blue’s sophomore season, Global Television and ABC have renewed this perennial fan favourite once again. Development on the third season of this original series is now underway, with production slated to begin later this summer in Toronto.
Following a record-breaking inaugural season last summer, Rookie Blue returned with solid ratings when it premiered on June 23. With 1.5 million fans (Ind. 2+, national) tuning into its season two opener, this bullet-proof series is Thursday night’s #1 drama (Ind. 2+ and A18-49).
For ABC, Rookie Blue ranks #1 Thursday nights in the 10pm hour for Adults 18-49 this summer.
Rookie Blue continues to follow five young and ambitious rookie cops – Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith), Chris Diaz (Travis Milne), Traci Nash (Enuka Okuma) and Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan) – as they navigate the emotional trials and tribulations of their professional and personal lives. This season, the rookies are just beginning to realize that when it comes to getting good at this job, there are no shortcuts. And when you’re a rookie officer, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
This original series was developed by Thump Inc. and produced in partnership with leading indie studio and distributor, Entertainment One (eOne). Rookie Blue is executive produced by award-winning Tassie Cameron (Flashpoint), Ilana Frank (The Eleventh Hour, Would Be Kings), Noreen Halpern (Hung, Call Me Fitz), John Morayniss (The Firm, Haven) and David Wellington (The Eleventh Hour, Would Be Kings).
Season two currently airs Thursdays – 10pm ET/PT on Global and ABC. In this week’s episode (“Heart & Sparks†– Thursday, July 14), the officers at 15 Division try to recover from Luke’s shooting and investigate a series of arsons that culminate in the torching of a laundromat. As the list of suspects grows, Chris and Gail take to the streets and encounter a man from Chris’s past, and Traci interrogates a young firebug found at the arson scene. Meanwhile, Andy’s effort to stop a grieving widow from entering the burnt-out laundromat results in the two women being trapped in the unstable building. What seems like a straightforward case of arson soon becomes something much bigger.
Previous episodes of Rookie Blue are available on GlobalTV.com or on the Global Video App, available from the App Store on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, or on demand through cable and satellite providers across the country.
