Bid now in the TV, eh? Midseason Charity Auction

“It’s no longer good enough for us to tell kids who are different that it’s going to get better. We have to make it better now, that’s every single one of us. Every teacher, every student, every adult has to step up to the plate.” – Rick Mercer

With Mercer’s rant fresh in my mind, and a great suggestion from Twitter, I chose Kids Help Phone as the beneficiary of TV, eh?‘s first online charity auction. Kids Help Phone is a free, anonymous and confidential phone and on-line professional counselling service for youth.

Bid now for your chance to buy rare TV experiences and memorabilia, autographed books, magazine subscriptions, hockey and Olympic souvenirs, and more. Most items are available now but more will be added in the coming days. All items are listed at tv-eh.com/auction and individual posts will be spread out over the next few days for easy linking. Please help spread the word however you can – friends, family, forums, and social networks of all kinds, online and off.

All proceeds will go to Kids Help Phone. Prices are in Canadian currency. Shipping costs and duty, if applicable, are to be paid by the winning bidders, so please figure that into your budget. Check the Canada Post website for shipping estimates (most items are shipped from Vancouver V5R 6G2). Auction ends January 13, 2012.

Don’t want to buy anything? Donate to Kids Help Phone and tell them TV, eh? sent you.

Note: This auction uses proxy bidding. You place your maximum bid and therefore only have to bid once. Your bid will register as the lowest possible winning bid. When you are outbid by another bidder, the auction will continue to bid on your behalf up to your maximum until the auction closes. Placing your maximum bet eliminates the need to monitor an auction and place increasingly large bids.
