- The anticipated sixth season of MURDOCH MYSTERIES begins Monday, January 7 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) as part of CBC- TV’s premiere week
The wait is over, as CBC’s critically-acclaimed period crime-drama, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, returns with a captivating sixth season, beginning Monday, January 7 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) on CBC Television. In a season full of surprises, super-sleuth Detective Murdoch is back facing some of his most challenging cases to date, while working to overcome unforeseen hurdles in his newly formed relationship with Julia.
Set in Toronto during the turn of the century, home-spun series MURDOCH MYSTERIES stars Yannick Bisson as William Murdoch, a handsome young detective using radical forensic techniques for the time, to solve some of the city’s most gruesome murders. Helping him crack the case is Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris), pathologist Dr. Emily Grace (Georgina Reilly) and pathologist-turned-psychiatrist Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy).
Season Six begins at the dawn of the 20th century, and finds Detective Murdoch amidst some of his toughest cases yet, as he experiences mechanical airplane flight firsthand while uncovering a high-level conspiracy; works to clear the name of a young Winston Churchill (Thomas Howes; Downton Abbey); a dangerous madman threatens to unleash a deadly toxic gas attack; and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle makes an appearance when his supposedly fictional creation, Detective Sherlock Holmes, becomes entangled in a violent robbery. Murdoch also gains new perspectives as he visits a community of naturists and encounters a ghostly presence in Queen’s Park.
In his personal life, Murdoch must address new complications, as he and Julia, having finally expressed their love for each other, realize they have new obstacles to overcome in order to be together. Meanwhile, Crabtree’s burgeoning success bolsters his confidence and his romantic pursuit of Dr. Grace.
Watch MURDOCH MYSTERIES, Season 6 Mondays at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) beginning Monday, January 7.
Thanks to CBC for picking up a great series and caring more about quality and Canadian content, not to mention the great writing. This season is better than ever. Such a treat!
i have followed this series and absolutely love it i cannot get it in wisconsin until it comes out on dvd but i always preorder because i love this show. thanks for making it and it is a real treat to see a show where it is just entertainment and not how bad it can be. thanks again for producing the show.
Hi, My wife and I love Murdoch mysteries. I live in Sarasota, FL and can’t get it direct but have all the seasons released to far on dvd and ae currently enjoying the 5th season. WHY CAN’T WE GET IT HERE??!!
Because it’s a Canadian show and no US network has acquired it.
Yes and no. While no broadcast or cable network down here has picked it up, episodes have occasionally popped up on one or another of my local PBS stations (I’m in seacoast New Hampshire, so get the PBS stations from Boston, NH, and Maine). But PBS isn’t a network in the usual sense, but more a consortium of independent stations that acquire programming independently of the other PBS affiliates.
Anyway, people in the States should check out their local PBS station, and suggest to them that they pick up Murdoch if it’s not already on the schedule.
