In the news: Canadian networks count on US programs

Grant Robertson and Gordon Pitts of the Globe and Mail list five things about Canadian television programming:

  • Battle of the Network Executives
“There is a myth that Canadian TV is all about worthy domestic offerings such as Corner Gas and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Forget it. The real battleground is in U.S. shows, from hits like House and Desperate Housewives to clunkers such as Smith and Six Degrees.”

The Best Years review

TV Stevie from Rogers/Yahoo recaps the first episode:

  • Those were the Best Years of our lives
“Best Years has the potential to be a winner. I’d never denounce a show on a few holes in its first episode. In fact, it probably takes more than an entire season (if it lasts that long) to get a proper read. The first episode laid the groundwork for some future storylines, and I can see the plot going somewhere.”
