Academy unites film, TV and digital awards
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (ACCT) will unite its film, television and digital media awards into one gala event with a live prime time broadcast, Sunday, March 3, 2013 @ 8pm (NT 8:30) on CBC. A series of celebrations of Canada’s screen industries leading up to the gala will include industry awards presentations and special events.
“Following extensive industry consultation and outreach, the Academy Board announces the consolidation of the Genie and Gemini awards into one major powerhouse show for the Canadian public,†says Academy Chair Martin Katz.
English and French-language films will continue to compete in the new awards show which will now also include English-language television and digital awards.
The annual Gémeaux Awards will celebrate French-language television and digital media on Radio-Canada on Sunday Sept. 16, 2012, as previously announced.

Canada’s Top Screenwriters Honoured at 2012 WGC Screenwriting Awards
The Canadian film, TV and digital media community came out in full force last night to join the Writers Guild of Canada in celebration of Canadian screenwriters at the 16th annual WGC Screenwriting Awards.
Screenwriters Larry Bambrick (Flashpoint), Craig David Wallace (Todd and the Book of Pure Evil), Darrin Rose (Scaredy Squirrel) and Bruce Smith (John A: Birth of a Country) were just of few of those recognized for outstanding scripts. A complete list of winners follows.
