Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) is given advice on how to win back Alex’s love, and a visit from someone close to Dr. Sydney Katz (Stacey Farber) has her coming clean. CBC is excited to be moving forward with Season 10 of the fan-favourite Canadian series DRAGONS’ DEN, with national auditions launching in Toronto Saturday, Feb. 7 in the CBC atrium. Aspiring entrepreneurs across the country will once again be given a platform to bring their ideas to life on a series that was watched by almost one third of English Canadians so far this season, and the chance to partner with five high-profile investors.

Season 10 will continue to feature new and innovative business pitches, while special episodes will highlight past success stories, showing the impact the show has had on entrepreneurship in Canada, as well as how the deals have shaped businesses across the country. A selection of these companies will be featured in the Season 10 retrospective which will also highlight the evolution of Canadian small business trends, as illustrated by the various pitches throughout the years. Back again by popular demand, the Student Special will feature a selection of the top business pitches Canada’s youth have to offer, while checking in with some of the young entrepreneurs from years past to see where their start-ups have taken them with the help of the Dragons. Finally, the Second Chance Special is back with some of the most memorable pitchers from the Den — this time with select pitchers receiving mentorship from past pitchers who have found success in the Den.

Next season will also feature some changes, as Dragon David Chilton is leaving the show to focus on his deals full-time.

Having starred as a Dragon for three seasons, David closed 22 deals which include success stories like Awake Chocolate; Steeped Tea; Hand and Beak; Love Child Organics; and The Heft.

DRAGONS’ DEN is the top-rated Canadian unscripted program on this fall season, with an average audience of more than 1 million Canadians each week. In addition to its success on-air, DRAGONS’ DEN is also a hit online, boasting an active and engaged online community and averaging more than 650,000 page views per month. Academy Announces First-ever Golden Screen Awards, Recognizing Canada’s Most-Watched TV Series

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announces the creation of two new television awards: the Golden Screen Award for the most-watched Canadian Drama/Comedy Series and one for the country’s highest-rated Reality Series.

The Golden Screen Award for TV Drama / Comedy and the Golden Screen Award for TV Reality Show are Academy Special Awards which will be presented alongside the Golden Screen Award for Feature Film during the LIVE broadcast of the Canadian Screen Awards on CBC, March 1, 8pm nationwide (8:30 NT).

Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) finds herself under the thumb of her overprotective birth partner – leading her to wonder what kind of plans are truly worth making. When a patient comes in two days before he’s set to go to prison, Alex and Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) must sift through his many secrets to find out the truth about what really happened to him to help save his life. Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross) and Dr. Zach Miller (Ben Ayres) treat a couple on their way to see the Northern Lights, when a surprise diagnosis changes their futures forever – leading Zach to open up to Maggie about his own family secrets. Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies) enlists Dr. Shahir Hamza’s (Huse Madhavji) help to get a young bride ready to walk down the aisle. Charlie finds a spirit loitering in the halls, and when he discovers why, he finds himself facing a very emotional flash from his past. Premiering in primetime on CTV during Bell Let’s Talk Day (Jan. 28), the original one-hour Bell Media documentary CLARA’S BIG RIDE chronicles an unprecedented 11,000 km bicycle journey across Canada by six-time Olympic medallist and Bell Let’s Talk spokesperson Clara Hughes. Throughout the journey, Hughes spreads a hopeful message designed to break the silence surrounding mental illness and helps create a stigma-free Canada. Directed by multi-award winning filmmaker Larry Weinstein (Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould, Our Man in Tehran, TSN’s THE 13th MAN), the documentary recounts Hughes’ epic 110-day journey through 105 communities and 235 events in varied and often extreme weather conditions from coast to coast to coast.

Saving Hope, CTV – “Remains of the Day”
Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance), Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross), and Dr. Rian Larouche (Danso Gordon) could use a little help studying for their surgical board exams. So when a high school English teacher comes in for treatment, Alex finds herself receiving a few life lessons of her own. Meanwhile, Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies) is consumed with a patient’s vanishing bones. And a patient, who is very particular with her lists, has Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) working through a long list of medical reasons as to why she could be flatlining in the OR. Plus, the future of a teenage girl rests in Dawn’s (Michelle Nolden) hands – and a future she doesn’t know if she’s ready for weighs heavily on her heart.
