    “The highest-profile Canadian entry in the U.S. television sweepstakes so far is “Flashpoint,” a Toronto-set crime drama that made its bow on CBS and on CTV in Canada July 11. The series about an emergency response police unit met with mixed reviews in the U.S., with many Stateside critics suggesting it was a not-so-inspired Canadian rip-off of a well-worn American format — the cop procedural.” Read more.

    “Of positive note on CBS was Flashpoint at a dominant 7.64 million viewers and a 1.8 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m., and excellent retention out of encore lead-in CSI. (Viewers: #1, 7.94 million; A18-49: #3, 1.8/ 5 at 9 p.m.). There is every reason to now believe the broadcast networks will rely more on quality Canadian programming in the future.” Read more.
